Stripped gears
Problem:

Throttle/Brake linkage
Solution:

Motor mount screw(s) missing or loose.

Missing screws need to be replaced or tightened in motor mount.

Explanation

The motor mount screws in the GT play an important part in keeping the chassis stiff. When those screws are missing or loose, then the chassis can flex, causing the spur and pinion gear mesh to change. Since the pinion gear is metal, it is usually the plastic spur gear teeth that get stripped.

Quick Check

To check if your motor mount screws are the problem, do the following.
1. Look at the bottom of the chassis and check if any motor mount screws are missing or loose. Apply a screwdriver to the screws to check for tightness.

Step-by-step help:

If new screws need to be added, do the following.
1. Check your manual for correct screw part number and size and get new ones.

2. Screw them into the chassis and motor mount where missing.
