Did you know there is a step-by-step order to tuning your car to the track?

SETUP SHEETS

Never underestimate the value of the standard setup sheet. It is one of the racer's most important tools.

A. Tune your car to excel for 80 percent of the track, not for the 5 feet of difficulty.

B. Tuning is not a science, but an art. At best, your tuning setup is a compromise among several factors, such as the dry/dusty track, hairpin curves, and that pesky jump where you lose control. You tune it for 80 percent of the track, then fine-tune for the problem areas.  Do NOT look for iron-clad rules for tuning.

C. Associated recommends that you use the standard setup supplied online. They work for the majority of tracks, and are an excellent starting point for your tune-up.

D. Deviate from the standard setup only when you have particular trouble on the track that hurts performance, or the track conditions favor more tuning in that area for an extra boost.

E. Different racers will choose different setups for the same track for a variety of reasons: product preference; driving style; driving skill. Some skillful racers sail through difficult turns with little modifications to their setups. Others less skilled will change their setup radically to accommodate their difficulty. Keep this in mind when you use another’s setup! What works for one driver may not work for you!
