Q: When do I get my charger back?
A: We are working very hard to try to keep on top of the remedial repairs to these chargers, and on average, we will have your charger repaired and shipped within three to five business days of when we receive it.
Q: Why are you recalling these chargers?
A: We found that there were two problems with the charger, a defective fuse and a program error that could lead to an overcharging of your battery packs.
Q: My charger is working fine. It has never shown a tendency to overcharge my batteries… Do I still need to send it in?
A: Absolutely, yes. Most of these people using these chargers have never had a problem with them, but we want to update your charger anyway as a precautionary measure. Even one incident of a damaged battery pack is too many, so we want you to get your charger back to us before you do encounter any problems.
Q: Is the charger itself dangerous?
A: No, it's the overcharging condition that causes the battery cells to become dangerous. The charger will not catch fire, explode, or anything like that, but it may cause the cells to overheat, vent or explode.
Q: Am I going to get a brand new charger?
A: No, the needed remedial repairs are relatively minor component replacements, so you will get your own charger back, but you’ll know it has been repaired by the initial startup screen, which will now read "Quasar Pro Version 2.1"
Q: What if my charger has other problems?
A: If you send your charger in to us for the remedial recall service, we will thoroughly check out your charger and repair any minor problems it may have free of charge, even if it is out of the 90-day extended warranty period. We want to have every charger in perfect working order by the time they leave here.
Q: I have a #610 Reedy Quasar charger, not the PRO version… Should I send that in anyway?
A: No, the recall only applies to the #611 Reedy Quasar Pro. The #610 has shown no tendencies to dangerously overcharge a battery pack when used properly.
Q: What if I have changed the connectors on my charger… What should I do then?
A: We have adapters for most of the commonly used connectors (Deans, AMP, Tamiya Plugs, Sermos, etc.) so in most cases, your charger will be returned with your plugs still attached. If you are using an unusual connector, but have an adapter to alligator clips, you should include that adapter with your charger when you return it.
Q: Anything else I should send in with my charger?
A: All you need to send in is the charger, the recall form fully filled out, and any special connectors you may use as described above. We have power cords, etc, already, so those are not necessary. If you want your charger's box remarked as a 611B, return it, too.
