October 15, 2012 Event Name: Northwest Championship Tour RC racing series Event Location: Pasco, WA
Event Date(s): September 22, 2012 to September 23, 2012
The Northwest Championship Tour RC racing series had its sixth and final race of 2012 in Pasco, WA. The all-clay surface was in great condition, and the track grooved nicely in the 80-degree temperatures. With over 240 entries, racing was intense.
In the 2WD Truck class, Team Associated driver Mike Hudson battled for the overall series championship for the class. Mike came out showing that he meant business on Saturday, locking up the overall TQ and inching closer to the series championship.
In 2WD Short Course, three Team Associated SC10's battled for the overall championship. Justin Wilde needed a TQ and win along with a off-podium finish from teammate Jesse Munn to get the championship, and Justin got just that on Saturday, locking up the TQ in just two rounds of the three-qual. point qualifiers.
In the largest class of the weekend, 2WD Buggy, Team Associated vehicles were again dicing for the TQ position. Team Associated driver Jesse Munn ended up the TQ when the dust settled on Saturday, putting him in a great position for the mains and all but sewing up the series Championship.
Come main day it was more of the same from Team Associated. In the 2WD Truck class Mike was in a league of his own, it seemed, and walked away for victories in A1 and A2 after early pressure to secure the victory and the overall NCT Title!
Teammates Justin and Jesse duelled in the always-entertaining Modified Short Course class. Back and forth it went in A1 until a late mistake by Justin gave Jesse the A1 victory. In A2, Justin atoned for the A1 mistake and took the victory wire-to-wire. The showdown went to A3, after which Justin was crowned the champion of the day. The strong second-place finish gave Jesse Munn the overall Series championship by one point over his teammate.
In the 2WD Buggy class, it was more back and forth between Team Associated teammates, but this time between Mike and Jesse. Some early pressure from Justin and late pressure from Jesse was not enough to keep up with Mike as he was able to get by Jesse and hold on in A1. A2 looked to be a near carbon copy of A1 -- early pressure from Justin and a late charge back to the front from Jesse -- but again Mike got the A2 victory and took the race win. Jesse's consistent speed throughout the series netted him the NCT series championship for the fourth year in a row!
As everything wrapped up on Sunday in the Northwest Championship Tour, Team Associated finished with three electric class wins at the race, and four overall Series championships out of the five electric classes offered! Great racing by all of Team Associated in an exciting weekend.
