Cal State Dominguez Hills Velodrome, Dominguez Hills, California
On October 24, 1999, at NORCCA's annual Oktoberfest oval race, Daryl Silva's Team Associated shaft-drive TC3 made R/C touring car history with a 70.67 mph lap of the 1300-foot Cal State Dominguez Hills Velodrome. This is the fastest speed over officially recorded for a 1:10 4WD electric touring car.

Prepared by Duane Silva, Daryl's brother and oval racing teammate, the TC3 Team Kit was essentially stock, with the addition of a custom-made zero-degree toe-in rear arm mount, and extra-heavy springs all around. The TC3 was powered by ten Reedy 2000 Zappers cells and a Reedy Tri-Sonic 11 Double drag motor built by Mike Reedy with Cobalt magnets.

The tires were over-the-counter Pro-Line Jaco capped touring car tires. An LRP V6 electronic speed control was also used, with the addition of a small receiver pack

Congratulations to Daryl and Duane on setting this new world record, officially establishing the TC3 as the World's Fastest Touring Car!
