RC racers across the country once again headed to Harrisburg, PA for the 36th annual Motorama Expo. This year’s event drew 700 entries spread across two tracks and a variety of classes, making it one of the best-attended RC races on the calendar. Even with poor weather conditions in the area, thousands of spectators were rewarded with a variety of sights and sounds including arenacross racing, a tuner show, go karts, robot wars, and a variety of other options in addition to the intense RC racing action.

Drivers were given ample practice time to tune their cars to the track conditions and to learn the fastest lines around the track that were created specifically for this event. A typical race format saw points from a driver’s best two rounds of qualifying used to establish the starting line-ups for the main events. Those that had bad luck in qualifying were thankful for bump-ups, which allowed everyone equal opportunity to improve upon their qualifying position. This also meant that intense battles in each main event, with drivers looking to ultimately make it into the A Mains.

Carson Wernimont was the class of the field in the 4WD Modified class. Powered by Reedy Sonic motors, Competition LiPo batteries, and Blackbox ESC, Carson TQ’d with a perfect score and went on to win the main in convincing fashion. Similarly powered teammate Chad Due charged from fourth on the grid to take the second position and the 1-2 finish.

Chad Due showed that you don’t have to start up front to finish on the podium. In the 2WD Modified main event, Chad made his way from fifth on the grid all the way to the lead and the victory with his Reedy-powered B5. Carson Wernimont crossed the finish line in second to make it another 1-2 finish for the teammates.

The entertaining 2WD Modified Short Course main event was once again the Chad-and-Carson show. Both drivers were hungry for the win but it was Carson taking his second event win thanks to a pass on Due through the challenging triple jump section. Chad finished second for yet another 1-2 for the teammates.

In the Modified Stadium Truck main event, Gunnar Rieck converted his pole position start into the main event win with his Reedy-powered T4.2.

Special thanks to the event organizer for placing RC racing in front of so many interested spectators, and to the racers for putting on a great show for those who may have never experienced the thrill of RC racing before.
