Team Associated and Reedy dominated the modified classes at the Keilor Invitational held January 24-25 in Melbourne, Australia. Run on the same weekend as the world-famous Reedy International Race of Champions, the top racers from Australia were invited to compete in a head-head event with five rounds of 2WD and five rounds of 4WD. An Open class was also offered, with the winner gaining an automatic invite to the 2016 event.

The Keilor club had rebuilt their track for the event with a treated dirt surface and a challenging layout.

Team Associated swept the Modified Invite class podium, taking 1-2-3, with factory driver Ray Munday defending his 2014 title in his debut race using Reedy speed controls and motors. Mark Rodgers was second with Glen Bonetti third. All three used Team Associated B5M buggies in 2WD and B44.3 buggies in 4WD. Just missing the podium was rising star Cameron Zammit, the 14-year-old Team Associated/Reedy driver taking a round win and finishing fifth overall.

In the Modified Open class, Matt Kellet was too good for the rest of the field, taking TQ in both 2WD and 4WD and winning both classes to secure himself a place in the 2016 Invite class. Matt also used B5M and B44.3 buggies with Reedy power.

Capping off a great weekend for the team, Ray's 8-year-old son Lachlan made the A in the 17.5T 2WD class with his Reedy B5M and was awarded top junior.

Thanks to all involved for a great event!

Thanks to Ray Munday for this report.
