The 8th Annual Pro-Line Surf City Classic has become a staple of the summer race schedule in the Southwest. With a relaxed atmosphere, racers enjoy the Southern California OCRC Raceway facility that serves some of the top professionals. Team Associated was well represented at the event, with many of its West Coast team competing in the event. With the race packed into just two official days, the pace of qualifying and the single 10-minute main events provided lots of excitement and track time.

In the 4WD Modified Buggy class, the Factory Team B44.3s of Ryan Cavalieri, Spencer Rivkin and Rob Gillespie Jr. swept the podium, with Cavalieri taking a commanding victory by 15 seconds.

The results were similar in the 2WD Modified Short Course for Cavalieri, who took the victory by 18 seconds ahead of teammate Kody Numedahl and Kyle Layton. All three drivers used the just released RC10SC5M Team Kit truck, completing another podium sweep.

In 2WD 17.5 Buggy it was again a podium sweep for Team Associated. This time the RC10B5M Team Kits of Kyle Layton, Brendan Wheatley and Eddie Bernal stood on the podium.

Not to be left out of the winner's circle was Team Associated's Australia ace, Kyle McBride, who took the TQ and win in the 1:8 eBuggy class with his soon-to-be-released RC10B3e Team Kit, which was equipped with the #989 Reedy Sonic 1512 2100kV motor and #756 Reedy WolfPack LiPo 4000mAh 35C 14.8V.

Overall, the Surf City Classic is one of those "experience" type races, where it's not always about the racing, but the atmosphere and good times had in the pits. The 1:10 summer season is now officially over as kids return to school and preparation begins for the winter racing season. Look for Team Associated at events to come at a race track near you.
