The 2009 IFMAR World Championships was hosted by the TRAP Facility in Pretoria, South Africa. With very few racers making the journey to the Southernmost tip of Africa the event saw Martin Achter with his Team Associated Factory Team B4 claim Associated's 24th World Championship. This marked the 4th consecutive World Championship for the 2wd B4 buggy; a mark never achieved by any other single vehicle platform.

Starting from his top qualifying position, Achter navigated his B4 around the TRAP track and claiming the World Title by winning A2 and A3 ahead of fellow B4 racers Craig Laughton and Albert Caassens. Congratulations to Martin Achter on becoming the 8th driver in history to win the prestigious IFMAR 2wd World Championship.
