Melton and Flurer Win at Nitro Brawl

On New Year's Day the RC Pit hosted their first annual New Year Nitro Brawl. Over 180 entries from VA, NC, SC, and GA were on hand to compete. Despite the title, Pro 4 and 1/8 Electric classes were offered in addition to 1/8 Nitro. Reedy factory drivers Brandon Melton, Chris Pace, and Max Flurer were on hand to participate and give assistance to fellow racers.

In the Pro 4 category, Brandon Melton appeared to be on his way to an easy win by qualifying on the pole position thanks to TQ runs in every qualifying round. But Max Flurer was able to grab the lead in the 10-minute main event and hang on for the win. Melton would settle for second to complete a 1-2 finish with their Reedy Sonic 550 powered SC10 4x4s.

In the Expert 1/8 Buggy class, Melton and Chris Pace were fast during qualifying but just missed the pole position. Positioned second and third on the grid for the final, the pair managed to battle early on but it was Melton who and managed break away for an uncontested win with his Reedy 121VR powered RC8.2. Pace narrowly missed finishing in second but still grabbed the third podium position. Tim Smith, also driving with Reedy power, finished a respectable fifth overall.

Congratulations drivers!
