Gonzalo Cortes Wins Team Power Cup with his TC6.1!

The first annual Team Powers Cup was held at the world-famous Norcal Hobbies facility on July 22, 2012. The track, which is home to the Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions, drew over 90 entries for the race. In addition to the traditional 17.5, 13.5, and Modified Touring Car classes, fun classes such as F1, Front Wheel Drive, and Mini Sedan added to the upbeat atmosphere of the event.

Competition was tight in all classes, with R.O.A.R. national champions, Reedy Race champions, and Reedy Invitational drivers in attendance. In the Modified class, my TC6.1 was dialed from the first practice run. I was able to snatch the TQ away from Jesse Stark in the final round of qualifying. During the single A Main, it was a close battle between myself, Jesse, and EJ Evans. In the end I was able to pull out a comfortable lead and take the win.

My TC6.1 handled great, Reedy motors and batteries gave me great power through the whole run with no fading, and my LRP speedo gave me smooth control with no overheating even in the heat of the day. Thanks to Team Associated, Reedy Power, and LRP electronics for their support, Norcal Hobbies for hosting a great event, and Team Powers for sponsoring the race.

Special thanks to Gonzalo Cortes for this report.
