During the weekend of August 20-25, the Republic of San Marino hosted the RC Bike World Championships in Riccione, Italy. Hot weather greeted the competitors and luckily there was no rain expected for the duration of the competition.

The competitors began arriving on Monday for a few days of free practice to dial in their bikes. On Thursday, the competitors were seeded based on their three best consecutive laps and placed in the appropriate qualifying heats.

In Stockbike class qualifying, the Reedy-powered Thunder Tiger bikes of 14-year-old Antoine Brunet and Mark Lutz qualified 1st and 2nd in dominating fashion. Teammates Andrea Selva and Thomas Feilner qualified 8th and 9th respectively, which meant that all four were qualified directly into the semi-finals.

Each semi-final was scheduled to be run over three legs. Brunet won the first two legs of semi-final A, which meant he would transfer into the championship final. Feilner experienced difficulties in two of three legs, which meant that he failed to transfer. Semi-final B saw both Lutz and Selva transfer into the championship final.

Based on the semi-final results, Antoine Brunet would start from the pole position with Andrea Selva in the second position. Marc Lutz would line up fourth.

The Championship final was an all Reedy/TT affair. Brunet won legs one and two to become the 2012 R/C Bike World Champion in the Stockbike category. Lutz finished in second position in each of the first two final legs to lay claim to the second podium position. By winning leg three, Selva scored enough points to join his teammates on the podium in third position.

High ambient and track temperatures made the 2012 R/C Bike Worlds a challenge for all competitors. The Reedy/TT bike team was undeterred, and with hard work and determination swept the podium. Congratulations!
