Look for Travis once again to be on the gas flying the Procomp/RC10.COM Pro-4 at all the 2010 Lucas Off Road Racing Series events!
Racing has always been part of Travis' life. As early as eight years old, He was touring the country with his father, Marty who competitively raced in the Mickey Thompson Off Road Racing Stadium Series (MTEG). It was those early years that forged his competitive spirit and drive to win.
Travis' early racing experiences took place in the California and Nevada deserts were he spent valuable time behind the wheel of a 2-1600 car. At just 15 years old, Travis was racing in the prestigious SCORE desert racing series. His first season of racing netted him the 2-1600 sportsman championship trophy. "I learned a lot in the 1600 car, it taught me a lot about vehicle control and how to read the ever changing desert terrain which all helps me today in the Trophy Truck."
From the depths of the desert, Travis graduated to the NASCAR Ultra Wheel Spec Truck Series. This series visited 1/2-mile tracks in both Southern and Northern California. "Asphalt was a lot of fun, it really balanced my driving style. My asphalt racing experience really comes in handy when were racing down the Mexico highways in the Trophy Truck at 140mph." He spent two years in that series, but knew his true passion was in the desert.
At 30, Travis continues to exhibit raw driving talent and is an emerging star in the Off Road Racing world. He is one of the few elite drivers who competes in both of the premier Off Road Racing Series in the world. In the action-packed Lucas Oil Off Road short course series he pilots the #5 Pro Comp / Team Associated Unlimited 4 and in SCORE desert series he navigates the vast Baja terrain the #5 Pro Comp Trophy Truck. Although young, he has been able to gain valuable knowledge and tutoring from fast father Marty Coyne, Nextel Cup regular Robby Gordon, and Ivan Ironman Stewart. "I've been very fortunate to be able to gain experience from my Dad, Robby, and Ivan. I can remember things like being 15 years old and strapping myself into Ivan's pre-runner and heading out across Baja, or pre-running the Baja with Robby, those are experiences you just don't forget. These guys are all people I looked up to and admired growing up, and now I'm out there racing with and against them." Travis' driving talents are equally matched by an approachable professional persona that's friendly and quick to credit sponsors and team members for their part in the dream. "I have to say that I am living the dream, good friends, good times, and good racing."
