"What TV or theatrical car movies, new or old, did you enjoy, and why?"

Knight Rider:

Ok, so it wasn't a movie, but the show did center around a car. It talked and had a turbo boost that could leap small buildings in a single bound.

Even the big bad guys centered around cars. Kitt vs his evil twin "Karr", Kitt versus the big black semi...

I think they should make the old series into a movie. Something like Kitt versus a Ford Excursion, Kitt versus a Cadillac Escalade, Kitt versus Martha Stewart etc.

C'mon. Cannonball rally!
*************************************

days of thunder and driven. days of thunder cuz it's old school stock cars and "rubbin is racin" and driven cuz of the open wheel cars and the special effects

the newer "Gone in 60 Seconds"

There have been a lot of attempts at making great car movies, but most (take Fast and the Furious for example) have no plot, cheesy lines, and enough bad acting to make Ed Wood a proud director. I'll admit that the GT500 jump was a bit hokey, but overall it was an excellent movie. Certainly one of, if not the best car movies ever.

I enjoyed the 1966 movie Grand Prix by John Frankenheimer. It was, and still is, the best racing movie ever made. The story, following multiple drivers, means the end results is almost besides the point of the movie. The racing scenes are fantastic, it's very accurate to the time period, and it's a style of racing we won't see again. The same film would also be impossible to make today, with the much less relaxed atmosphere of grand prix racing nearly 40 years later.

The Fast and the Furious... the cars in it were absolutely beautiful, and the flashy action sequences showed them off very well. The story was even decent for an action movie. The second one would have been OK if they cut out all the dialog.

I think the movie was called Dead Pool with Clint Eastwood. There was the RC10 strapped with bombs would be driven under cars ,then exploded. The chase was awesome when the man behind the wheel of the rc10 I believe it was Jay Halsey, chasing Clint Eastwood. I thought that it was pretty exciting, what an Awesome driver. Anyone remember this.

old school- "winning" 1968 indy 500
"lemans"- steve mcqueen
"grand prix"
"bullit"
*************************************

This wasn't a "car" movie but, I liked the "Dead Pool" with Clint Eastwood. There was a killer chase scene with the nitro powered RC500 [actually an RC10--webmaster] and the guy doing the chasing was using a stick radio AND driving with one hand!!! lol
*************************************

The Great Race. The Lesley Special was a beautiful car. One should also give applause to Professor Fate's machine as well. The best part of the movie was Natalie Wood wearing a black lace dress. What a babe. :+)
*************************************

The Transporter.
BMW 765 IL.... enough said
*************************************

movie dead pool.

had an original rc10 in it

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang--not!

Gone in 60 Seconds, because of the assortment of vehicles that they stole , although you really didn't see them drive all the cars on the list (I guess that would make for a long movie) and a classic, Gumball Rally. Enjoyed this one because of the comedy throughout the movie. It reminded me of the Cannonball movies. ta

GONE IN 60 seconds is the best movie ever!
*************************************

days of thunder-because it is the best movie with tom cruise and it is the most "realistic" circle track racing (how the team argues about car setups and sponsors, etc.)

*************************************

I like the one where you insanely jump a T3 from the roof of your building on to a container. Why? It shows that the truck is durable (or you where just plain lucky! :)). It's also a "what the..." video. Great fun to watch!
*************************************

The Deadpool-with Clint Eastwood and RC-tronics by Jay Halsey.
*************************************

Ronin- Audi A8 w/nitrous chase scenes were fantastic.
To Live and Die in L.A.- chase scene goes against rush hour traffic, totally nail-biting!
*************************************

Smokey and the bandit, cuz I haven't watch neither fast n furios or its sequel.

*************************************

Fast and the Furious;
Awesome foreign cars souped up like JGTC.
*************************************

liked the charger in bullit, because I'm into mopar
*************************************

Gumball Rally - used a real 427 cobra & other unique cars instead of mock - ups
*************************************

Vanishing Point was a great car movie. It was corny but the car, a lime green Challenger with a pistol grip Hurst shifter, was the star.
