"What are your primary reasons for getting hopups?"

*************************************

to go faster
*************************************

First of all for the performance boost the specific hopup offers, but to often for the looks :)
*************************************

I like to get hopups that make my car more adjustable, stronger and lighter. I don't buy them because they are blue or have cool machining
*************************************

To enhance the performance of my vehicle.
*************************************

Increased performance /handling characteristics
*************************************

1) Durability, reliability.
2)Performance
3) Looks
*************************************

It depends on what kind of hop-up, but if its aluminum the only reason why i would get it is the added durability factor
*************************************

For better performance, durability or to make the truck lighter and stronger.
*************************************

Go faster
*************************************

Durability dependability tuneability
and the
ADVANTAGE OF KICKING A**
*************************************

Will only buy a hop up if it improves performance or durability - not interested in "eye candy".
*************************************

I mainly get hop-ups on my cars to make them look and drive uniquely and so that I can always pick out my car from the others

*************************************

On my nitro TC3 I have found parts that are a bit unreliable, like the fuel tank, the steering servo mounts (easily stripped), the shoe-type clutch, the steering servo arm. I have bought aftermarket to eliminate excessive play in the steering system.
*************************************

I think they are much more durable then stock parts and look better. Thanks to RPM my rc10gt hasn't had a single part to snap. Chris Yoder Hickory, NC
*************************************

Breaking parts, want to go faster, and good deals
*************************************

The kind of hopups I buy are chassis stiffeners, graphite shock towers, high quality radio electronics, heads for better cooling, titanium turnbuckles for added strength etc.. The hopups that are purchased should add more PERFORMANCE and less "bling bling."
*************************************

For good looks and speed.
*************************************

some but not all hopups are practical. but the main reason for getting hopups is to be lighter faster and more stable
*************************************

Some are needed, for ease or strength. Some just look real cool!
*************************************

to have the baddest rc out there, and so that it is unstoppable.
*************************************

To ensure reliable performance and break resistant suspension, tuneability and ease of maintenance.
*************************************

To make my T3 stronger, faster, more unique, cooler, more impressive, and special
*************************************

must... go... faster...
*************************************

To achieve better handling and weight distribution.
*************************************

For me it is to go faster and run longer.
*************************************

I run Associateds, why would I need hopups? :D

My philosophy is as long as you broke it, replace it with something better. I usually won't get anything aftermarket unless the stock item is weak
*************************************

to make my t4 faster
*************************************

durability and lightness
*************************************

It makes my car look nicer and generally the titanium parts dont' break and the aluminum is strickly just for looks.
*************************************

Better performance.
*************************************

TO replace a broken part with a stronger one
*************************************

For my B4 I bought titanium ball studs because a steel one bent, aluminum front brace because the plastic one broke, titanium tie rods because a steel one broke, and threaded shock bodies because i really hate those shock clips. My primary reason is to replace weaker parts.
*************************************

To make my car stronger, stiffer, lighter, or if it works a lot better than the stock part. any advantage over the competition is good.
*************************************

Increase performance, But Mostly LoooKs
*************************************

For me, I just get hopups if they improve the car (stronger, faster, lighter), not for looks.

the only hopup I got for the B4 so far is the hinge pin brace (next to normal race stuff like springs, shock oil, tires, caster blocks, etc.), rest of the car is fine
*************************************

This answer depends on who you are and what you use your car/truck for. For instance if you only race you look for carbon and Unobtainium parts, light weight and better for speed. If you want a car/truck that is just for jumping and bombing around and you just want the torque and not so much the speed you buy the titanium and aluminum.
So really it depends on what you want your RC used for!
*************************************

My primary reason for buying hopups is to make my car or truck tougher and faster.
*************************************

LIKE AUTO RACING, THE GUY WITH THE BETTER AUTO MODS WINS. NO DIFFERENT WITH RC RACING.

*************************************

more durable and more adjustments
*************************************

I get hop-ups so that i can prove to the jerks at the local track that even though i don't have a drivers license yet I can still drive just as well. The hopups are so i can tell them this after I blow past them!
*************************************

In order to obtain a better yield and duration, mainly in the races, and also in the general appearance.
*************************************

looks
*************************************

Once something breaks on my T3, I replace it with the next best part. although hop-ups look kewl, I go for them once I need them. I still use my stock tie rods. the only things I have upgraded are a titanium upper transmission shaft because I tweaked the original, MIP golden Shock shafts after the stockers wore out, and MIP you can see when they wear (The gold fades), front and back RPM bumpers, because I need them, a modified servo saver system with an additional servo saver because I had problems using my slightly longer ball bearing servo, and a home made transponder mount because associated has yet to make one. Made it out of a plano storage separator bent in half mounted in the shock tower top bolts, kinda where Kyosho puts theirs.

*************************************

there's only two reasons i hop-up:

1) make the car/truck faster
2) make the car/truck stronger
*************************************

To be the best out there, i get hop ups so that my Team A truck will slap any other truck out there. Because of hop ups, My RC10GT will own any truck out there, wast you!!!!!1
*************************************

performance effects
*************************************

Why use hopups? I run a bone stock tc3 ft (apart from a one-way) and I have one 4 out of 8 races driven, and the other 4 I came in second. I race modified in Norway, and I'm leading the national series... The TC3 FT is the best touring car out there!!

//Martin Sørlie
*************************************

If I do ever get hopups, it's because I broke something and wished to replace it with something stronger. I rarely get carbon or graphite parts because my track is very low-bite. I usually upgrade my batteries or electric motors before I upgrade anything else.
*************************************

put money into your car
*************************************

Increased reliability and strength
*************************************

I buy hopups to make my car look and run better.
*************************************

speed
*************************************

I buy hopups to improve the performance of my car. Not that my car needs them, because it's an Associated!
*************************************

I get parts that will make my car work better when i use it to race dirt oval, I e better turnbuckles, clutch's foam tires , better bulk heads , that sort of thing
*************************************

MORE SPEED!!!!!!!
*************************************

1) Something broke.

2) Traction

3) Make jumps
*************************************

To make my car lighter, faster, and stronger, or to replace broken stock parts.
*************************************

Performance
*************************************

To go faster and look cooler.
*************************************

I buy hop ups to make my cars better than my friends and to make them perform better
*************************************

to make the car lighter and overall, perform better. More graphite parts then aluminum please!
*************************************

to be different, to have a car that everyone admires, and any performance advantages that part may supply
*************************************

Get faster
*************************************

to make my RC10-GT+ go faster, jump farther, outlast any other truck around!!!
*************************************

1.More time racing, less time repairing.
2.It looks very nice
3.a fraction more speed
4.enhance overall performance
5.more speed and acceleration
6.better responsiveness
*************************************

definitely to make the car more reliable and easier to work on :)

*************************************

To make the car Stronger BETTER faster, nicer, cooler, and to be the king of the hill!
*************************************

to make my car look better and faster.
*************************************

performance.
*************************************

Simply too make it look and feel good
*************************************

durability
*************************************

toooooooooooooo slow of a car or it just doesn't look good the way it is. kinda to add some color. also to say that its not all stock.
*************************************

To get my truck to be smoother and better handling and drivable, also for durability. a little for looks
*************************************

better handling
*************************************

To improve the performance of my car
*************************************

Typically, I will purchase a hop up if I feel it will provide either a performance upgrade or provide a longer life for the item or items around it.

Then, occasionally... I buy hop ups purely for the good looks.
*************************************

Looks, durability, and performance!
*************************************

To go faster, increased performance/handling characteristics. Will only buy a hop up if it improves performance or durability - not interested in "eye candy".
*************************************

To get faster around the track. Plus, there's a saying: "If everyone else got it, I have to get it too". Faster is more fun!
*************************************

To enhance the performance of my vehicle.
*************************************

I love hop-ups for increased durability. "Eye Candy" is a nice feature but I love MT's where reliability comes in as mentioned. If anything I think Aluminum makes a great base building material for chassis and graphite and titanium for odds and ends.
*************************************

to make my vehicle perform better and to make it more durable
*************************************

To be more competitive on the track.
*************************************

I buy hop-up because they lighten my car and make me faster
*************************************
To show off to your friends a car with a high RCF*. Get that edge to stay slightly ahead of your competition when racing (Because sometimes all you need is just an inch.) To increase the cars resistance to breakage.

*Really Cool Factor
*************************************
I buy hopups for the purpose of showing off some pretty awesome you guys put out. i also do if i need more speed or acceleration.
*************************************
Performance or reliability.
*************************************
Looks and the process of installation
I enjoy any movie that uses cool cars!
Onroad for speed:)
I visit the website almost daily because I'm strangely fascinated by it...it's beautiful and I get information from pros that know way more than I do about this incredible hobby.
*************************************
Hop ups are to make my trucks ( 1/10 scale electric and nitro factory team trucks ) lighter and faster. Most of the time they are more durable also. However, I do not buy many, I am waiting to buy the B4 buggy until the Factory Team model comes out, same with the T4 truck. Until then I will race ( and win ) with my T3 and RC10 GT trucks.
Associated rocks, only LOSI comes close, but close is NOT good enough.
Racer 9
*************************************
After a while, everything gets boring. You're never fast enough. You never handle enough. You could be the fastest guy out there, and after a while it's just the same old to you. Aside from that, who doesn't like upgrades?? A little color adds tons to the cool factor.
*************************************
My primary reasons for getting hopups are;
1. Aid in fine tuning of my racecar
2. Adding more reliability to my car eg. highly stressed areas of the drive train
3. Decreasing weight without affecting reliability.
All of these reasons I apply to my Nitro TC3.
*************************************
To be really honest it is to satisfy the eye candy fairy!!!
*************************************
To make my TC3 rip even harder!!!
*************************************
for getting best optimum performances.
*************************************
increased performance
