"What started your interest in the R/C hobby?"

I saw my friends with cars and I decided that it was something I wanted to get into, and so I am soon going to be the proud owner of a B4 RTR. Hopefully!!!!!

it was when I bought my first electric rc car now I have 12 electric and a gas in the mail. my first gas I thought I needed something a lot faster cause I'm so experienced and one day I was talking to my dad and said it would be cool to have an rc car that runs off nos or gas and it goes about 70mph and I went to A HOBBY Store and saw some and cars and I got out there this summer and worked my a@@ off yeah boy

Twenty years ago I built and raced a RC10 at local races and loved it. Lost my car and all my gear to a house fire. Then once I started to get back into it I can't find any old RC10s

I played with toy cars when I was young, these are the only ones that stuck.

I ENJOYED RIDING A MOTORCYCLE FOR YEARS AND WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED SO THE NEXT BEST THING IS TO MAKE A R/C CAR FLY

I liked the battle between company's drivers and racing is fun to

I got started into r/c by my neighbors. they had a t-maxx (2 of them) a pro 4-tec and some other ones that the use to race.

My friend has a nitro stadium truck and I drove it and I was hooked! I thought I seriously need to get one still looking for one that is affordable.

Tyco turbo hoppers that I saw on Nickelodeon. Liked it, bought one, and it broke so I bought an RC10 Jay Halsey addition from Break-A-Way Raceway in 1988. Won the 1996 NORRCA Nationals with an RC10 B2 in the Expert Mod. class.

what got me interested was seeing so one driving a t-Maxx 3 years ago and then I was hooked. I went to Tacoma rc and had only $100 to spend and I was sure to get one until I saw the price. then I spent about five weeks in the summer mowing lawns and stuff. I had about $500 to spend and I got a team Losi XXX Kinwald Buggy and everything else including 2 batteries, used Quasar Pro Charger, jr xr3

I was living way out in the country and my parents thought I needed something to do with my time during the summer, and I loved to work with my hands, and take things apart to see what made them tick. So they bought me a Tamiya Black foot truck. Well here I am 15 years later, with about a 12 year break, back in it and having just as much fun!!! P.S. After the Black Foot, I got a RC10T, it was great and now I have a T4 and it is the truck to beat at my local hobby shop!!! Gotta love that AE. Killer stuff!!!

Magazine in hobby store back in 1973. Associated 1/8 scale on-road cars ruled the earth at that time. My first car was Jerobee 1/12 gas car. The rest is history. Associated products are simply the best in the business.

Watching the knife edge precision lines of 1/12th scale racing in the late 80's.

I flew R/C planes for 20 years, became tired of cleaning up the exhaust goo and flying sites are going away, cars are right out my driveway and the local hobby shop sponsors races. No noise, no mess, more fun.....besides - I like the competition. Bill in CA - 51 years young

Seeing an RC10GT going balls to the wall about 10 years ago

My friend came over and My dad offered to take us to the hobby shop. We were going to check out model rockets because my friend and I were both into them. My dad saw some R/C's in the back, and he showed them to me. I was reluctant at first because I thought they would be too complicated and expensive for me. My dad offered to buy one and help us out. The next day, we bought a Nitro 4-Tec, and an addiction was born.

I started to be interested when my cousin's boyfriend got one and I thought it was cool.

I seen a rc10 (gold tub) buggy at a hobby store in I believe 1985 I was a teenager then. there was an off road track in the back of the hobby store and they were racing, that was it, at that moment I was an addict. I have had more AE products than I could name and a few others that never matched up so i am an AE guy all the way to the finish line with all the others in my dust.

The original RC10. Back in '88, I stumbled onto an RC track in Illinois and watched a race in amazement. The RC10's were just dialed! Up to that point, I couldn't believe an RC vehicle could handle like that! That's when I got hooked to RC forever. To this day, my favorite cars are RC10s of any variation.

Flying control line airplanes when I was a lot younger!

it's my childhood frustration and I want to make it a reality now... :)

What started my interest in r/c was my dad. When I was about three years old, my dad took me to the local racing track for r/c cars. I thought it was so cool. When I have kids, I hope they have the same interest as I do. Thanks!

I saw a rc driving in a car park on holiday and that's when I got interested

I wanted something I could control that was a way above the normal RC cars found at Radio Shack. Team Associated has the best performing cars and trucks on the market. It has been over 17 Years since I owned one and am looking to get back into the sport. my first car was the RC-10 Jon Landwer, Executive Assistant for Front Sight. www.frontsight.com

When was looking for a Ps2 magazine at wall-mart and saw rc car action ,and got it instead. since then (3 years ago) I've own 4 electric rc's and 2 nitro offroad trucks

the realism of nitro trucks.

my dad started me in R/C cars because he used to have one when he was a kid like me

The fact that you can change parts.

I just wanted to make a friend and be loved... is that so wrong!?!?!?

My father, he had kept his JEROBEE cox car and that started me

I always liked monster Trucks. So once I saw the Rc10 GT and Tc3 I knew I wanted to take my interest further in the hobby.

I use to shy away from R/C because I grew up on the K-mart, Toys R us type of R/C cars. I thought that was the only cars ever built. UNTIL my mothers boyfriend showed me his nitro 8th scale. ever since then I was hooked, I am only a year into this hobby, and I have an Inferno 7.5, a Factor Team TC3 ( favorite car ) and a 12th scale carpet knife... I plan to buy a b4 soon :)

Just the thrill of the power and speed these little this put out. I'm just a backyard basher but I am hooked. There is nothing like the smell of the exhaust of a Nitro truck.

my own love for r/c cars

Hi. When I was 11 I went to rc car championships and saw all that stuff. Since then I was always thinking about rc cars so I had to buy one. I'm so happy now. Marek PL

My Dad I went to a R/C race before I went Home from the hospital

Trophy girls:)

I was looking at the magazine rack at my local Safeway and happened to come across an issue of radio control car action. It happened about 4 years ago.

The Excitement, attention, and SPEED!!!

Watching others with them.

well my brother had an original rc10 truck when I was younger and a few years later I started reading up on the hobby and I got my rc10t3 for Christmas and it grew from there.

had one when younger went to local club once and saw it had to av one and eventually work away from std Tamiyas and got myself the best tc available the associated tc3

When I was 7 I blow up my first TYCO RC and was scared for life [rode it into a pool by accident], but now that I am a little older, I did some research and found these really cool looking and fast little cars. So I tried it out and was hooked the first time I even took it out of the box.

My friends all met up Saturday nights to race. I wanted to have a super car when I started out there. After lots of investment, and broken parts, the TC3 proves to be quite sturdy. scratch90

Broke my neck in 1980, while recouping in my Halo Brace, saw an add for Tamiya Sandscorcher on the back of a Hot VW magazine. Decided that was for me, could race without getting hurt!!! Caton.

Kinda woke up one day and realized R/C's were for me. After that, I got a little Nikko truck (which promptly shredded its servo gears). That Christmas, I half got, half bought, my uncle's RC10T. It won me two Sportsman championships and 7th in Stock Truck. It was also in the Reader's Rides section of R/C Car, October 2001 (the one with the Shumacher EVO buggy on the cover). It now proudly sits on a shelf in my shop, it's body covered in autographs from all my racing buddies and the track owner, everyone liked that truck. -TheMissile

I saw my friends playing with some r/c cars and i got hooked on them. I own a B4, T4, T3, B3, xxx-tMF, xxx-ntAD, xxxBK, and I love associated the best

I don't know but I met a kid in my class who had a t3 that is when I got in to it. I went to RCX now I am getting a rc10GT!!!!!

I watched someone practice in a field nearby and decided I wanted one. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out how little it cost to get started operating such a serious and fun hobby! I may not be good enough to keep up with the "big boys" yet, but I'm practicing everyday and learning to set up the truck according to conditions and steering in and out of tricky curves! My adrenaline rushes every time I get it running flat out! Amazing speed for a "out-of-box" truck.......Great product guys! I have the RC10 GT Plus!

A few years ago a relative gave my son a rocket for his Birthday which lead to trips to the hobby store to buy engines. Seeing all the cool toys in the hobby store caused me to buy a cheap RTF plane but falling from the sky causes too much damage so I switched to RC cars and now my son and I have about 10 of them. Gave one to the relative who bought him the rocket.

a miniaturized car running on gas =)

The excitement, thrill and overall fun of controlling a vehicle from a remote location at high speeds and off-road terrain.

the rc10t3

They are fast and cool

to tell the truth the tc3 started me into the whole r/c world. its unique chassis and shaft driven system grabbed me by the neck!! I like how well balanced it is and the superior style. this is what started my interest in the r/c hobby!

Novak himself stopped by a hobby shop my dad and i ran years ago and he had an experimental nitro car he showed us, and my dad ended up buying it. I played with it in a nearby k-mart parking lot, it had a veco 19 in it, man that thing would fly!

the thrill, the adrenaline rush, and a free Traxxas 4-tec

The cars are so cool when you build it then race it theirs a sense of achievement

my dad and my uncle used to race when I was born till I was about 7yrs old so when I was 5 I got my first car (a midnight pumpkin) at the age of 11 I sold that car and bought an associated rc10t2 and now i got a t3

I saw an original RC10 racing and I wanted one.

I became interested when I started a part-time job in a hobby store. my first purchase was a T3. It was all down hill from there, since then I've had 3 B3's, two team cars and 1 factory team car. and now i own a TC3. it started out as a team car and now its fully upgraded to a factory team car.

my bro. got one and I thoght that it was really cool. I also like the speed of RC cars. AND THEY'RE JUST COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife's need for speed! What better way to show my love than to give her the best and fastest, while keeping myself safe. Now I am in Iraq driving a Team Associated buggy and she has the convertible at home. Anderson- Baghdad Modelers

What got me started on rc cars is that when my son wanted one, I got it for him and I liked it alot. Then when I started to drop a kid off in paradise, I say the rc racing. I went and I got a car for my self and started racing the cars. I have been in this for about 2 years now. I really like this sport. But to you this might not be a sport. Thank you for reading my story. I will like if you guys will keep doing this and we can tell how and what we like about rc racing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bye and thank you

What got me started in r/c hobby is that I was 14 and want to drive a car so bad that I ask my mom for one and now my car can jump to.

a local racetrack and the realistic adjustments of these little race cars

I bought an RC10 buggy, way back in the early 90's. I was bored went in to a hobby shop, saw it, and had to have it. I've been hooked ever since. In case your wondering, I bought the kit, radio, ESC, and charger for way less than a RTR is today.

THE WHOLE IDEA OF HOW IT WORKS WHEN ASSEMBLING

my dads fiend

My dad started me out in the hobby when I was 3 years old. He had started when he was young and passed RC down to me and he taught me how to drive with a Kyosho Big Boss. Now I have 1 NTC3, 2 T-Maxxs, T3, and a Nitro Vee.

I SAW MARK PAVIDIS WITH HIS RC10GT AND I THOUGH THAT LOOKED REALLY COOL SO I SAWED UP AND BOUGHT ONE AND I HAVE MADE AWESOME FRIENDS IN THIS GREAT HOBBY

my friend got me in to it.

Saw the first issue of RC Car Action on the news stand in '85-86(?) when i was 10 years old and must have read it cover to cover a thousand times. The cover and outside pages wore out and fell off. I saved and mowed lawns for six months and got an RC10 but had to wait until the next Christmas (When I got a futaba radio) before I could drive it. Found a track in a neighboring town a year later and started racing/upgrading. Andy's arms, tekin speedo, and eventually a graphite chassis to replace the gold tub me and my dad had milled and drilled alla' Cliff Lett and Jammin Jay Halsey... Ahh... those were the days!!

seeing an R/C go....

their a lot better than the ones you buy in stores like k-mart, walmart, radio shack, & K-b toys cause those are all just pieces of crap. plus, the car or truck could be modified.

i used to bye NIKKO r/c cars and loved it... they broke so now ive got a touring car and Rc1oGt 8P

10 years ago I dreamed that one day associated would build a shaft driven 4 wheel drive off road electric buggy. Just the thought of that got me so excited I got into the hobby. Still waiting.

my dad bought me a mardave in a went to hinkley radio controlled car club and just carried and i now own a factory team tc3

Started 19 years ago with a grasshopper. My grandfather used to get the rc modeler magazine. I then graduated to a original rc10, then to other various cars and trucks while still keeping the grasshopper and rc10. Now I only have 3 cars. The grasshopper, rc10 and the new rc10 gt. I have been a Associated supporter for a long time. I will continue to do so. Bob, MASS.

My dad

When my brother bought a RC10 T3 I was just amazed how cool the thing was. and I just decided i need one. Then me and my dad started a club and now I'm one of the best with my T3 and GT.

I like mini 4wd when i was a child, they just go !go ! go! very fast, but u can't to control them~ SO, when i need speed and control, R/C is the best choice~

The original RC10 is what started my interest in the hobby. Now I am an employee of Hobby People, just from the RC10.

My best friend got me into it and I haven't looked back since. its a great hobby.

The thrill of racing =)

what first got me interested in rc is one of my friends but what got me into team associated was a local track owner near me

I saw an rc car race at South Square mall , Durham NC in 1978. I stopped ask a lot of dumb questions then bought an Associated 12E, I have raced 1/12th and 1Oth pan cars since then. I had the 12I, 12L,12LS and now a 12L3. I also raced a 10lSS but 1/12th is my favorite class, 1/12TH's FOREVER!

a friend and plus i love racing

my interest started when i began to by the Tyco's, they were fun when i was like 8, and then when i was 13, i took apart all my tyco's and made one really fast car out of it, it went about 15-20mph, pretty fast considering it was made from a tyco. But then after a few years i always wanted something faster, so i looked into the electric and gas cars, first i got an electric (t3), and then i bought the RC10gt, thanks for all the sweet cars! SAM

I race my 1988 Monte Carlo SS from time to time and it can get quite expensive, then there's the love of NASCAR; my favorite motorsport. When I saw there were 1/10 scale NASCAR Monte Carlo bodies out there, I just HAD to have one! Then the need for speed took over from that point...there's no turning back from there, electric, nitro...touring car, oval car, truck, buggy and more, so many to choose from....I LOVE this hobby. And it's CHEAP too!! Have you ever purchased racing fuel? Do you know how EXPENSIVE IT IS?!?!?!? Val Ramos UntuchablSS

Seeing my very first RC10, gold tub chas. Had to have one, bought one days later, Been hooked ever since!!

I got tired of going in the same circles remember cox on a string (airplanes) and tether cars needed a change that was in late 60's

i thought they were cool and my friend had got one

The fact that I cannot pull a A/C Cup yacht with my Hybrid. So I set out for the biggest one that would fit into it. I race R/c Yachts during the warmer months and now race R/c Factory TC3 during the rest. The joy of building, racing, and displaying precision r/c models; priceless.

i was driving my cheap radio shack car around, and compared to the actual nitro/electric rc car that i saw at the track earlier that week and i decided to finally get an actual rc car so i got the Tamiya TL01 for a starter car, now i have an HPI RS4 Rally and a TC3 which are a lot faster then the cheap "TOY" cars

I was watching "BATTLE BOTS" that's what got me into cars and robots but I'm into cars more then robots

My brother was telling me about a cool rc car that he saw that went 35 mph when I went to my lhs I saw the owner driving around his rc car and I was hooked

I started in rc racing from my older brother. Now I have the B4 kit and race. It's fun.

Well when I was 4 I saw my dad race them and i was interested ever since. He always raced with his rc10gt and nothing else , he always beat everyone with it. I also have an rc10gt and we both have cz12z o.s. motors anyways rc10gt rules!!!!

15 years ago when I saw these old guys running r/c's at the park and my dad bought me one from r@di0$h@ck. Now I ran nitro tc3's, one of the best on-road car I've ever run.

i saw them on the net and i knew i had to have one. That was 3 years ago and i now have a RC10GT!! This is the bEst Hobby..

I got started in the R/C Hobby because i like imports and some of my friends had R/C Cars

My ex-wife told me no, so I bought a Bolink dragster

myself did and i love it so much. I can take apart and put back together my truck in like 20 minutes

i went to a fair and some them racing and have been hooked ever since and am a proud owner of a tc3 and t3 and soon a tc3 nitro i love this hobby

I LOVE THE SMELL OF NITRO IN THE MORNING. THERE'S NOTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD LIKE IT....IT REMINDS ME OF...VICTORY!!!

When I was 10 years old and I saw a gas car zoom across the basketball court at the park.At the time I didn't know what it was but I saw it had wheels and it lit me up.

I am 31 years old right now. What started me into R/C sports was an auto racing show called the Race-O-Rama held at the eastern states exposition grounds in West Springfield Mass. A local hobby shop (Bill's Hobbies) was there with an outdoor type green carpet set up in an oval with jump in each straight. That is where I saw the first real R/C cars that were not the ones I saw a Radio Shack. Some people had Tamiya Hornets, Hot Shots, Grass Hoppers, Super Champs, and a car made by an American company Team Associated, the original RC-10. Seeing those cars jumping ramps was awesome, I never saw a radio controlled car do that before. That was 1984 and I was 12 years old. Since then I was hooked.

My first real R/C car was a Tamiya Fox. I had a blast with that but it wasn't soon after I wanted better performance and durability out of my "toy" so I begged and pleaded with my dad to get me an R/C 10. I got it and soon after I could run with guys a lot older than me. Those were the fun and cheap days. Well as I grew older I couldn't afford the hobby anymore. I sold all my stuff including my beloved R/C 10 which won a-many A mains to live life on my own.

Well as time went on I tried to get back into the sport a few times and did well but it wasn't a real shocker to me that I couldn't afford the hobby and had to give it up again but this time I didn't sell my stuff. Well now, I'm married and I own my own house. All I seem to do on weekends is yard work or something else besides racing. I really missed the sport that kept me away from drugs and possession charges while I was growing up. Today (Oct. 12, 2003) I went down to the hobby shop I practically grew up at to see what was going on and to my surprise all the guys I used to race with were still there. Talking with them brought back some of my great "glory days" of racing. They all urged me to get back in the sport. Well as of today, (Oct. 12, 2003) I decided to try it once again, I'm gonna go back racing as long as its ok with my wife Cheryl. Besides, I have a home equity line of credit that's not doing anything. Thank you for letting me ramble on.

PS. Thank You Chris at R/C Madness in Enfield CT. for helping me keep my butt out of trouble.

My friend having one.

my uncle who is in the hobby industries and bought me a car for my birthday

Watching RC boats on the lake at my local park always fascinated me as child. A kid with a rich daddy bought his Tamiya Cheetah into school one day and ran it in the playground, we were all amazed at the speed (1980) even if it is lame by today's standards.

Team Associated has won more IFMAR World Championships than any other manufacturer!
