"How do you deal with nervousness before a race?"

Well, I just play with my car and don't think about it

I drink a can of soda.

I stretch then jog around parking lot a few times

Cool question guys! I'm always nervous before the start of a race, but I try to shake it off; usually by talking to other guys on the stand, or I constantly remind myself, "Just survive the start, get into a rhythm and drive. All there is to it." You can't worry about your race before it starts, or it tends to eat away at you, but I'm always a bit nervous before a race :) -TheMissile

I don't pay attention to the racing, I just stay in the pits and relax, some times I put on some music.

don't think about it-- just have fun

take my mind off the race and eat some pizza before the mains

I picture myself winning and beating the most simple opponent, Omar Greco

I just don't worry about it and by the end I don't know why I was nervous.

Oh u just take a deep breathe and relax your muscles and next thing ya know it's over.

I don't ever get nervous

don't try and tune your car if your that nervous-- you will most probably mess it up. you shouldn't really get nervous, only on your first time. if this is your first time DON'T BE, it's a great laugh, and once your in control just have fun and get around the track

I sit there and think about the track, and decide on what a good line is. Then I make sure my truck is ready and soldered good. Then I go and gt my spot on stand and keep quiet and concentrate on the race.

Vomitting LOL, just remember it's just a "hobby"

what I do before a race is I take deep breathes and I also pretend my car is racing and drive through the track

take a deep breath and shine my lucky penny for good luck

I eat lots of ginseng and tree roots, it calms down the brain.

I don't! I shake like a leaf the entire race! I sure wish I didn't shake... I'd be 1 lap faster...lol!

I just think about how great of a racer I am and I think about just finishing the race.

I deal with nervousness before a race by working on my car and practicing on the track so I don't think about the race as much.

I deal with nervousness before a race by laughing. its always good to start off the race when everyone is happy and laughing on the drivers stand.

The only limitations in life, are the ones we place upon ourselves. TC3Capece

believe it or not I sit down open a mountain dew suck it down pick up the controller do a quick lap in my head before I go out lay the car down take a breath and go baby go

I calm down and take a deep breathe and think how I'm going to get off on the starting grid.

I go to the bathroom and wash my hands a few times.

I don't even think about the race. I just relax write before the race that helps alot before it

I deal with nervousness before a race by telling myself that I am just racing a toy car (I mean toy car as in my Tc3 or any hobby quality R/C) just for fun and that nothing is going to change weather I win or come in behind the winner. This is one fun hobby though!!

read a book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

drink a beer

1 or 2 beers!

I tell a lot of stupid jokes!

Clear my mind and go to a "happy place"

by not worrying whether you are going to win or not

Some people deal with nervousness by rubbing their keys or chewing mint gum. Personally, I think I race better when I'm a little nervous, so it's not a bad thing-unless you can't hold your transmitter because you're shaking so badly.

I take a deep breath, look at my T4 and realize I am driving the best truck in the world! The Jazzman

three deep breath

I chew gum

I drink an ice cold Bud Light

think about how im gunna race and my strategy

I just don't enter a race period

I rev up my .25 nitro star engine on my brand new SAVAGE 25 and hit some huge jumps. That gets my juices flowing!

just do it, the more you race the less nerv. you get before one.

drinking beer

Well I just started racing so i just be confident in myself and i dont think about bad things that may happen

I would just work on my car and listen to music. And during the race I would mumble opera. Strange I know, but like they say "Whatever works."

Well, what I do is to pretend your the only one out there and I go over the track many time in my head, see where is the best place to over take, slow down, which jumps to slow down at etc. Pretend its not a race just a fun activity (which it really is). It really works I've only came 3rd or last in 2 races out of 23!

i sit there and think how im go to drive and which line and were to use the brake and stuff like that

Confiedence overcomes all nervousness

Picture the win

Getting on the stand early so you can run a couple of hot laps as everyone else comes is good too. You know what your vehicle feels like just before your race. If it's good, you don't worry and your first few laps are faster. If it's not, then use the hotlaps to fix whatever you can by changing your driving style. -TheMissile

I listen to music.

Smoking and a can of beer

I just remember that the other racers are as scared as I am when walk on to the stands

I am just driving and each time it`s ok ..

I don't - I just get out there, and race. once the first lap is over, the nervousness has gone.

Drink Beer.

I amp myself up by playing my fav. hip hop music!!!!

just do it

SI speak much, and way from a side to the other, eat some chocolate.

Have everything for your car done and ready to go, so you don't have to worry about getting it set up at the last minute, that always helps, so you can have your head on straight before hitting the track.

I picture myself winning the race so I start to feel relaxed.

just act like you're in the back yard playing around and remember its all in good fun.

i dont but when the tone goes off and the race starts i seems to go away

power through it. you wont event think about it halfway though the race

I realize that I'm not going to win, no matter how well I do, so my performance doesn't matter.

Well, I pretend I'm alone, after checking everything, just focus, focus, focus...

focus on the prize and imagine how good it will feel, rubbing it in my friends faces

Well, I like to listen to music before a main. I don't really stress out before a heat. signed, Tony

I usually check over my car when I am nervous

I just say to myself, that everybody has that problem and that I can use this for my advantage. And then: FULL THROTTLE!!

i have a beer and then I'm fine

i chew gum to settle my nerves, and just relax and don't think about the race, just do your best and don't give up.

i just take a deep breath and relax my shoulders

Easy, don't race.

I think positive befor every race.

Take a DEEP breath. And then go out there a wing it.

To deal with nervousness before a race just make sure your car is in racing condition keep your self occupied that will just pump you up try to see who your going to race against.

I don't think hard about the race, I take it as it comes. I also treat every main event as a qualifier, I don't do anything different than I've done in the qualifiers.

simple, I think about all the losi's, kyosho's, duratrax's im gonna blow away with my GT, seriously im just out to have fun so nervousness is no big deal its more like a quiet cockiness.

don't crash it for one. have someone you know that has at least one years of experience drive it first and make sure its all good.

when im on the drivers stand I just breath slowly to calm myself down

go drive your car around a little just for fun.

DEEP BREATH

How Do I Deal With Nervousness Before A Race? I just take deep breaths, and try to ignore it.

i pretend im barry baker and kick everyone's butt

After I put the car on the grid and get up to the driver's stand, I do a couple of imaginary laps around the track. It helps me get into the groove quicker.

chew chewing gum (lots of it).

I drunk bout 5 beers den i is fine

don't think about it.

ive always found that if you feel nervous before a race walk around and talk to all of the guys your about to race get to know them then you'll start to realize there no diffrent from you. there just there to have fun.

go to the bathroom....

i find not to think about the race and just do what you would normally do that way you have no time to worry and do well. (-:

I Usually just concentrate and focus on what needs to happen, not what might happen.

Close my eyes and count to 10 slowly, always seems to work for me.

i think about the track. every turn i even practice my radio triggering in my head that way i can not be worried about what to do when the race is on

Breath in, Breath out, and just do your thang!

for me I walk the track and learn every little detail. Then when on the stand I can close my eyes take a deep breathe and focus on the fastest line around the track.

Talk to people who I know, or ask for advice from somebody who knows the track well

Stay off the caffeine few hours before the race. Also take a few deep breaths.

Concentrate on the task at hand, and tune out all distractions mentally.

I just focus on making sure my car is prepared for the race and focus with patience.

I'm never nervous, because I know my car is one of the slowest so I know I am going to lose and therefore don't have to worry about it.

Sleep is good, but I also listen to some music or play games.

Don't be worried about losing because this is all about fun you first have to lose before you can win

Tune your car.

2 hours before a race I take my buggie all apart and put it back together.
