First Kit AE kit I ever built was a RC10T, it really went well. The only thing I managed to mess up was to switch the front and rear shockshafts. First kit I ever built was a tamiya, it was easy to build but not that competitive.
My first Kit, a T4, went together quite easily for the most part.
fun
easy as apple pie! I love this hobby. I take apart and put back together my T3 and T4 every other day! (just for fun)
My current T3 Factory Team. The only thing I had trouble with was the rear A-arm mounts: in the instructions it tells you to put the mount on the chassis and then install the arm and hinge pin, however, I found that it's impossible to get the pin in! It's a simple fix, though; assemble the arm, mount, and hinge pin and THEN mount it to the rear chassis! Other than that it was a blast putting it together! -TheMissile
it was evil especially because it was a traxis kit. the kit didn't have very good instructions like all Associated's. all i can say after my 21 kit is to read the instructions thouroly before you even open the bags
It felt great also I tq'ed and won my first novice race with it-- great gt ft truck associated!
The best!! I was drawn to R/c because it was a model that when you were done building it , you could play with it. RTRs are cool too, but if you have never built a kit from the ground up, you are missing out.
it was koooool and fun and very easy ..........lol ---alan
Well it was great. i was so excited i couldn't think straight! i made sure i got everything laid out just so. It looked more like a surgeons operating table rather than a place to build a FTGTRC10GT. I then had to sell it and when i was ready to buy another truck the Rc10GT RTR was just released. my local hobby shop told me i had the 20th some odd car made. Now that car is more tricked out than a regular FTRC10GT!
I brought the RC10TC3 Racer kit and spent a few hours a day putting it together and i had it running in a few days. Great kit to put together.
FUN and a learning experience
about ready to throw it out the window, it was a losi and the instructions stunk. then i got a ae rc10b2 and that changed kit building for me.
I did everything wrong like putting in the diff backwards and had put the pinion too close to the spur.
Put together a B4 With my 9 yr old son, what a great time. We both learned a lot Thanks Dennis C.
Let's see, I was 10 yrs old at the start of two week Christmas break, and my parents knew that I knew who "Santa" really was, got an Associated 6010, Airtronics XL2P, Protect ac/dc charger, and a 1200mAh battery during. Dad, gave me car and told me to go at it, I had car together in 6 hours and running it at 6am freezing outside. Best experience I ever had, RC cars are not only for fun but they will teach you about real cars as well. They are learning tools, just that only parents that are smart enough to recognize these from a Toys R Us/Radio Shack car will see this. Learned more about cars in 6 hours of building than any classroom could teach.
it was great. I put together something with my own hands and it ran (with a little help, I had a mechanical speed control) I'll never forget it, it was a kyosho st (stadium truck). I begged my mom for weeks to buy it for me, she finally gave in. thanks mom!!! & for all you parents out there, yes you should invest in that kit for your kid. It kept me out of the streets & kept me focused. peace
I was 12, my dad thought it was too much to pay for a "toy" so I had to build it all myself. I stayed up all night to finish it, took it with a big grin on my face out on the street to race my friends Radio Shack car and had the pants beat off me! I walked away depressed. Then I learned about after-market hop-ups and a few weeks later my friend was left in the dust. :) Been RC'ing ever since!
Meditative The kit was a Factory Team RC10GT. I was consumed by this kit every evening for a week; it was complete relaxation in comparison to my daily routine. Joe D'Uva Professor of Fine Art Lawrence University, WI
I can still remember that late night. I started as soon as I got home from the hobby shop and didn't stop until 3 the next morning! One of the most rewarding things I've ever done. Now I've lost track of how many I've done and they sure go together much faster these days! Oh...it was an Associated kit also.
In Summer of 1994 an rc10t,2 days one pain in the b*tt!!!!
Hmmm....Well building my TC3 was fun but just a little bit expensive. buying the kit and putting it together got me psyched but when I looked at the price of electronics I thought i would have to ditch r/c but no leave it to grandparents...my grandpa bought me a pretty good esc and I worked the rest of the summer for the rest of the electronics...oooo the memories
well it took me a week and everybody else said it took them hours but I didn't care I was just happy that it actually ran!!!
My first kit was a Factory Team RC10GT, I spent day and night building it, my fingers became sore and the most messy part was building the shocks, but it was fun. P.S.: DON'T USE A HAMMER TO FORCE THE O-RINGS AND THE WASHERS IN THE SHOCK CONTAINERS
It was fun to assemble my first kit. I like to assemble my rc cars, instead of just getting the RTR package.
First kit (12e) was very confusing, lack of understanding part names with their orientation or placement. All kits after have been a breeze, time to assemble has been reduced even with prepping parts (sanding, filing, polishing and test fitting) before assembly.
