"What is the most important factor to being a very good driver, and why?"  (submitted to us)

1. Motor and Batteries.
2. Driving Skill.
3. Setup.

Definitely driving skill. You can buy the biggest cells and the fastest motors, and have a perfectly tuned car, but if you can't keep the tires on the ground it wasn't worth anything. The slowest car on the track always beats the fastest car on its roof. -TheMissile

First is having driving skill. Second is having a good setup Third is having a good motor and good batteries

having a good setup and a right attitude -alan

Driving skill!!!!!back in the day i started out with 2 1000 mAh and an rc10...others had b2's and 2000's...i had to pit an electric car for a battery change and i still won-Robert

Without a doubt, driver skill. Without good driving abilities, all other skills are meaningless.

1. Setup- it doesn't matter how good you are or how much rpm's your motor makes if your car doesn't have traction. 2. Motor and Batteries- You will always meet someone with a faster motor and better batteries, and you will most likely be beat. 3. Driving Skill- All it takes is practice.

Driving skill because Being able to go fast is good, and having the best steering possible is cool too, but you have to be able to control your car with what seems to be like no effort. Practicing in your drive way on cornering and sliding helps on the track alot. your driving skill depends on how well you know your car and how it performs in different conditions. knowing all the tricks on how to enter a certain corner at the right speed will easily be more valuable on the track than the guys with hopped up batteries and fast motors because they'll be flying into the walls. driving skill and setup because you could have the best batteries and fastest motor but if you cant drive or your car isn't set up properly you got nothing

2.driving skill, because if you can't get around a corner you can't get around the track

3. Setup. A good setup is one of the most important things in RC RACING.

driving skill is the most important. Because if you can not drive even the best motor , batteries, and setup will not get into the winner circle. I seen Mike Dumas when he was racing for you guys win with one broken rear shock. Funny thing was he did not even know it was broken until the race was over. Driving Skill Most Impoprtant

To me it is to have a motor and fuel. I use O'Donnell because it is affordable. But I use a HPI 12SS motor. The skill is more of what I need. I need help a the truck class. My setup is use by the good drivers a like Tebo, and Babcock. I never change my setup unless the track changes.

The most important is driving skill, without that a good motor and set of batteries will go to waste. But most of the time in racing more guys have "the skill" and then your setup skills and your motor and battery can have a major impact on your results.

patience driving skill and setup i once saw a guy with a stock motor beat a guy with a mod. I've also seen a stock mini T beat a t4

The most important factors to being a good driver to me are driving skill, a good setup & lots of practice. You need driving skill because you can be all about going full throttle, but you'll still be all over the place on the track. Also, people like to try to pass others when they are laps down or try to get big air on jumps, but it's pretty obvious these drivers are the bad drivers of R\C. Setup is important because with a bad setup, your car will not handle or cannot be handled the way it is supposed to be. If you are really serious about traveling & racing, you also need to test setups at different places if you want to be fast. Obviously, the same setup will not work everywhere. Finally, you need practice because how will you use these skills & be good using them? You won't, so remember to get lots of practice in when you can.

I think driving skills are the most important for a couple of reasons. One is that I'm only 15 years old and I can't afford the best equipment, but I have been rc racing for 6 years. I can still win races without the best stuff because I have lots of experience. One thing I remember is that money can not buy skills.

I would have to say #3 Setup. You can have a very fast car(1) but if you can't control the speed, or even get up to speed on short tracks what's the use? You can be a very skilled driver (2) but your only as good as your tools. A poorly setup car is like using a phillips for a flathead. IT DON'T WORK. Yep #3 is my answer. If your car is setup for the conditions its run in, both speed and driving will come a lot easier. There are a lot of forces at work when racing your car. It needs to be ready to deal with those forces be it hard landings or long sweeping corners with lots of speed. So sharpen your knife !! Levi

Driving Skill, if you don't have the skills to make the turns and know when to pass your opponent then you will not be able to keep up with the rest of the drivers.

I would say a great setup over Power any day. If you can drive then you can apply the power. Driver skill is important but the skill will come with a good setup.

I would have to say driving skill is most important of the 3 you mentioned. Good equipment and a good setup can not compensate for a person who does not drive well.

The most important would be 2 (driving skill) and 3 (setup). Motor and batteries are important but not as much as the others. Case in point. My buddy and I race 10th scale electric against Nitro's (well, practice races anyway). We constantly beat the nitros. Why? The nitros have great power and speed but the handling is missing. We always take them in the corners and are usually out in front by the time the long straight comes into play. The nitros may pass us but we brake better, turn better and are out of the corner quicker and back into the tight inner part of the track where we kill them quicker. Are they happy?...no. Have they bought electrics? Yes. Do we still kill them? Absolutely. Why?...Driving skill and setup.

skill....if you can't drive you will never be fast

driving skill, the other stuff doesn't mean anything if u can't drive

driving skill, setup and practice, practice, practice!!!!!

I feel it takes all three.

2 driving skill. you need plenty of practice, you can drive a perfectly set up car and drive poorly

i think setup is the most overall important factor to be a good driver. Although driving skill is very important, without a good setup even good drivers will have a hard time posting fast lap times. When electric racing motors and batteries play an important role because you can be much more competitive with more efficient technology.

Of course Driving skill. Because you can have the best motor or batteries, but if your going to hit everything in your way. Your not going to get far !!!

driving skills all the way-- my truck is fast, has a good set up, but i can't drive it

driving skill i would say would be most important because you can overcome a poor set-up a lot with skill in the driving dept., you can also overcome motor/batteries with skill too, just practice, practice, practice.
