What's a good way to get someone interested in R/C?

I guess it depends on who. A girlfriend may be tough, big compromises sometimes are needed! Ha-Ha! Someone else, you could bring them down to the local track and show them a racing event. Better yet you could let them drive your vehicle. SLOW at first! In my opinion knowledge is probably the best way. Show them how you do maintenance and repairs on your vehicle. Any driving tips and other dos and don'ts always help to. R/C can be a very good hobby. Safe and Fun!

Go to a local track, and watch the races, ask questions about the different classes and learn what goes on.

drive a rc car around people will ask questions, tell them when where and how. tell them about big events coming up, like the glorc race being held at Aurora rails raceway park.

let them drive a nitro truck or car (cuz they are gnarly)

To get some one interested in r/cing you could drive your truck for the person and make some jumps and do romping.

I think a good way to get someone interested into R/C is by taking them to a track and give them the radio and say have a go. Jimmy (B4, GT, T3)

buy them a $500 car and shout "SURPRISE!"

If your local hobby shop has races take someone who doesn't know about rc cars. That is how most of the people I race with got started in rc. Just buy a nitro tc3 and go racing, you won't regret it.

Take them to the track or let them drive yours (assuming you trust them). By the way, bragging about how much $$$ you've pumped into your pimped ride is NOT the best way to get someone new involved!

Show them what its all about by showing them your car and driving it for a demo or something like that

take them to a local track and show them the basics about r/c cars. introduce them to people you know at the track, too.

Well, one way is to let'em try your car, so that they can see how much fun it is driving it; at first glance watching someone drive an RC may not be that appealing to some people. Its more of an experience if they know what its like firsthand. But be careful who you let drive the car... (So far that's 3 on my tally) -Dude

show them how cool it is and let them try it

a good way to get someone into r/c is to show them how fun it is by taking them into an open space where they cant hurt your car =), show them the upgrades you can do to the cars, and tell them where the events are and let them watch

if you have access to a computer just show them a video clip of a monster GT in action! if not take them to your local hobby store.

THE THING I WOULD TELL A NEW COMER IS TO HAVE FUN AND ASC QUESTIONS FIRST. THAN CHOOSE WHAT KINDA CAR U WONT. DON'T GET THE CHEAP TOYS GET A GOOD $200-$250 CAR AND SOME GOOD RADIO GEAR. THEN PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, IF U WONT TO GO TO A LOCAL TRACK AND SEE HOW THE RACES WORK AND SUBMIT YOURSELF IF U WONT TO!! REMEMBER DON'T GET FRUSTRATED IF U GET POUNDED AT FIRST JUST KEEP PRACTICING AND HAVE FUN!!
