Why do you prefer unassembled kits over RTRs?

Building a kit means you develop an understanding of how the car works from the start. When problems occur you're better able to deal with them yourself and not have to call on the local hobby store to solve the problem. Also the anticipation of building the kit means it means more to you once it gets its first run. RTR is a simple way of getting started but where do you start when things go wrong - it's just another "toy" which you have no knowledge of the inner working of.

Hi I prefer unassembled kits over RTRs For several reasons. 1.) I like the fun I get from assembling the kits, You don't get that with a RTR. 2.) I get to learn how the car or truck is assembled from the get-go. 3.) RTRs don't come with the best equipment in the world. 4.) Last but not least "I HATE RTR CARS".

With a kit you are able to learn how your rc works and when something breaks you know how to put it together more quickly and hopefully without any mistakes.

I learn how the kit is assembled and therefore can make my own repairs with confidence. I have had to help a lot of newbies with there ride because they do understand that these vehicles need maintenance and are not indestructible. I do get a kick out of helping them though...

I prefer kits because I can learn how to repair it when i crash it into my brother. Also I can add team AE hopups when i build it. RTRs are to easy and some are not put together with care. I have a fishtank with 4 goldfish. Most rtr to come with all the blue alli. stuff i like to use. TEam AE rocks on!!

Can you fix it when you run into your fish tank? How do your 4 goldfish feel about that?

Sir the goldfish find my truck to be a riot I put them in the trailer for them. Charlie, Lunch, Tensor and the Unit. all love your site they swim to the top when I bring it up on the intranet.

I prefer a kit so I can build it and know how everything works with the kit. also so many times I have found poor assembly on rtr kits.. stripped out screw holes, leaky shocks, and so on, I much rather build them myself! Thanks.

Personally for me, who has been racing for 3/4 years, it's got to be unassembled kits. There just something about buying a brand new kit and building it to race. It's such a good feeling walking out you hobby shop with a box of bits that will become the car that you've been waited for (Factory Team TC4 is on my want list). Plus if you've built the car yourself when it comes to maintenance and replacing broken parts life is so much easier. But then if you're a complete beginner RTR's are a good and cheaper way to get into the world of radio controlled car. And some of RTR out there is not toy quality, very good quality race worthy gear. Companies like Associated and Losi should continue releasing kits and RTR's to suit all racers out there.

I prefer kits now because it helps getting familiar with the setup of the car. If I need to fix something I have some knowledge of how it comes apart and goes back together. I also like it because I would have about 7 or 8 radios that would just be lying around if I bought all RTRs

The quality or kit is better than rtr's. I think it is amazing to build the car and then drive him. Building a kit can help me for maintenance and learning how to setup my car...

they come with more of the factory team gear

If you build your kit, you know exactly where every part goes and why it works. You can fine tune all of your settings to your preference. You get the joy of understanding camber, caster, toe in, ride height, shock settings, etc. You can make sure that all of your turnbuckles, servos, etc. are adjusted properly and not binding. If you ever happen to smack a wall, car, curb, dog, baby, ankle etc., you know exactly which part you need to re-order for the repairs. Besides what else would you do with all of your spare time but go out misbehaving. Then you have to sleep on the couch, get a crick in your neck, miss work, get fired, and end up as some homeless person. So you see, building your own kit is good for your health, good for the economy, and good for America.

I like to see the car coming together as I build it. You are also able to pay much more attention to detail than the people who build rtr's so you end up with a much better built car.

More hands on approach. learn the vehicle inside and out, feels good to build something from parts to a working vehicle. Satisfying, fun. Some if not more aspects better than an RTR vehicle

because assembled rc's have a better chance of running like my monster gt started in the middle of the winter right out of the box. some kits that u have to put together don't

They usually have the better upgrades on them already and you will know your truck from front to back so that also benefits you. Also you choose your own electronics.

Because you can add your own custom set up. things such as an FM radio, hotter motor etc...Also, you have a more intimate knowledge of the vehicle so you can troubleshoot easier.

N D KIT i can get satisfaction from assembling myself. It help to prevent loss of know how in fixing the rc unit. I like finishing with my own goodies. I put in the big motor. I also choose the good battery.

If you are an experienced racer or already in the sport, you would buy the kit over the RTR. RTR come with electronics that you wouldn't need if you already have them. The kits usually have the "hop-ups" already. RTR's are great getting into the sport but for an old timer, that's just wasting money.

Melvin builds my best rtr in town. he allows for proper build up of dirt between the piston and carb. he puts da best butta on the flywheel and don't ever tighten that clutch nut!!!

When i prefer the kit i pull apart all the bags then I adjust for optimum frequency aportion. I don't deal with the Traxxas stuff. only Team AE is the best with the production of rc. when i receive a engine i immediately run it full on speed without the flywheel. It allows for proper rpm to befitted. Sometimes though it blow up in my face with extreme force sending me to the hospital across the street.

I prefer RTRs over kits, Immediate Satisfaction. Plus I will unassemble most of my RTR because I like to build'em. No kits can hang with my rtr MGT, pure power. I push it full on and sling my rod out the exhaust. RTR kites are the best.

I know that the kit is built correctly. (hopefully}. rockin_bob13

I feel i do a custom assembly when I build kits myself.
