1998 Question of the Week:

"Which electric off road is better, buggy or truck?"

I have no previous experience with buggies, but from watching them I would say trucks. Buggies are a little more specialized, while trucks can be converted to drive very well on-road. I think it would be more difficult to accomplish this with a buggy, but I'm not too sure. Also, trucks can handle both very rough and very smooth dirt tracks, but buggies do much better on smooth, "groomed" tracks.

depends on what you want to do backyard bashing or racing. For racing a buggy or stadium truck is probably the best way to start off. For backyard bashing a truck is definitely more fun and better suited for crashing thru the the grass and dead branches. if you plan to drive in a parking lot or a dead end street a stadium truck is the way to go--very stable and very quick on the pavement and off.

Its really a personal choice, the trucks are more forgiving and easier to drive, but the buggies can really jump and have quicker acceleration.

Both are good, try and get enough cash to run a buggy and a truck, if you are a beginner though, go for the truck, easier to drive, sort of.

I would have to say the rc10b3 rules. It can take off faster off the line and can run circles around a truck.

If I were still a "infant" it would have to be a RC10B3 car. A little "boy" it would be a RC10T3 truck. But now im a adult and its a RC10GT GAS TRUCK all the way babie!! NO FEAR 8-)

I would have to say that buggies are better because they take a little more control to drive but trucks are tougher. krkroupa

truck because they are more reliable.

Good question!!!

What is true is that a buggy is faster, because smaller and lighter. Anything else depends on what you like. Don't think about the cost. It's all the same.

Have fun. Hilaire.

The answer to this question depends on the type of tracks you race on. If your track of choice is tight and fairly smooth surfaced, I would recommend the buggy as it will be easier to get around at speed and in traffic. If your track is rough but has wide lanes, go with the truck. The larger diameter wheels will make it more stable on choppy surfaces. Usually, the buggy, being smaller and lighter, will be the quicker vehicle given the same motor. However, on a very rough track ( lots of ruts and small bumps) the truck will probably turn the faster laps and be more fun.

Neither is better it is all up to what type of racing you are doing. Buggies typically are faster but trucks are more forgiving and take jumps better. Trucks turn better.

they are really two different animals. Buggies can go ballistic and usually have better turning capabilities, while trucks can and will conquer any bumpy or jumpy track. They seem to be much more universal, and with a little tuning can beat buggies into the ground. Trucks have way more suspension travel, and buggies bottom out way too much. Plus, truck bodies are much more aesthetically pleasing and faster to put on than a buggy's body and then a wing. TRUCKS ARE BETTER ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you want to try true skill try buggy they r tougher to drive for most of us. if you want the true car its the truck the handle better and jump better. the only thing they not better is maybe the top speed

It certainly depends, as with most things in this hobby, on your intentions. If you want a high performer and highly tunable ride for smooth tracks...a buggy is your best bet. If you want something which is more versatile, can be fun and competitive, has more aesthetic options (body styles, wheels, tires, etc.), runs almost anywhere, is easy to tune, and is solid as a rock...trucks can't be beat; plus the flexibility of their use makes them more cost efficient. THANX!

truck, because it looks cooler. but in the case of the B3 and T3 they are basically the same. and plus it's bigger

They both have there good and bad points. The trucks tend to be more stable and easier to drive. The trucks will go over jumps and bumps better without getting out of shape. Now the buggies in my opinion are faster down the straight away but are not as stable. it takes a better driver to drive a buggy than a truck. They are both fun.

It all depends.. for the first time racer.. a truck would be a bit more stable to run. The buggy is a much more nimble machine.. but takes some practice to master.

Price-wise there is no difference, so really, look at what a lot of your local drivers are racing.. and then go for it!

It a toss-up. Buggies turn quicker, but trucks are easier to drive.

the truck has faster lap times because of the big soft tires but the buggy has a faster top speed

Buggy and Truck are both fun classes to race in Truck is a little easier for someone just starting out because of the larger tires and longer arms they can take the all but the largest jumps and bumps with ease.

It depends on what conditions you are racing under. If you are racing on a semi-flat track with not many bumps, you would want to race a buggy. But if you are off-road racing with big jumps , you would then want to race a truck.

well it depends on your flavor of racing some like it "spicey" some like it smooth it all depends I myself like them both it also depends on the type of handling your "looking" for ,trucks by far are more smoother so in some cases it may help the driver with less than "perfect" driving skills, and buggies are somewhat "twitchy" (but) with proper setup will handle just as well (with proper setup they will turn better than trucks)

I THINK OFF ROAD TRUCKS ARE GOOD FOR NOVICE RACERS BECAUSE IT HANDLES ALOT BETTER THAN THE BUGGY. THE ONLY FLAW TRUCKS HAVE IS THAT THE PARTS COST A BIT MORE SO THAT WILL HURT YOUR POCKETS. 'RACER X'
