1998 Question of the Week:

"What was your worst moment in R/C?"

WHEN MY COUSIN JUMPED MY RC10 OFF OF A RAMP AND BROKE THE CRYSTAL (MIND YOU, IT WAS A BMX RAMP, AND THAT'S ALL THAT WAS BROKEN) .

When my 10T2 flew off the track at one of jumps, and hit someone in the ankle, breaking their ankle.

I was racing at the Minnesota Nationals and it was a very cold day. My car slammed into a wall and I lost total control. The car went berserk and it was totally demolished.

When I was going to flip over a car and got hit in the leg.

i know one thing that everybody forgot to put in their toolbox and that was bandages!!!!!!

I was going over a double while the battery was going dead and I took a chunk of dirt out of the jump

My worst moment happed just last Sunday. Three laps to go in f1 main leading by a half lap, clipped the corner going through chicane and knocked off my power lead to battery. Had to settle for 6th place. Real points battle now. If I won this one clinched overall title. DOUG

My worst moment at the track... hmmm hard to choose because there aren't many when you are RC Racing! Well if you have to have one, it would be when one of the drivers I was marshalling for didn't put a gear cover on their car, so when I picked it up, he put his finger on the gas.... owch!

The time I launched my truck into the pits at the start of my first big A-main! It was the worst moment of my then young racing career. It was then that I promised myself to treat this as a fun hobby and not as something that actually caused me to be unhappy.

My worst moment at the track was at the Hobby Warehouse in Sacramento. The track there is hard packed clay and is very smooth. When I went to race there all I had was a rear set of large proline nobbies. I was sliding and skidding all over the place and knocking people off the track. I was a little embarrassed by this and some of the better drivers really thought I was a jerk. Needless to say I didn't win anything, but now I have a great pair of M3 Square Fuzzies on my Truck.

I was racing and a guy tried to put up another car while I was in first and stepped on my car!!!

WHEN I DID CARTWHEELS FOR ABOUT 15FT OFF A JUMP.

My worst moment at the track was just last week on 2/27/98. I was racing stock buggy & truck at Hobbywarehose of Sacramento when this one racer (we'll call him Rich) who to the best of my knowledge has been racing for about a year or two saw fit to HACK everyone in every heat. The bad thing about it is that he too was racing buggy and truck that night. How can you go around someone constantly doing S patterns down the straight away...or not slowing down for hair pin turns, going full blast into the car ahead of him. I've blown up a speed control and thrown a pinion while running what I thought was the best run of my life...but never have I been so frustrated by not being able to drive the way I know I can when the car is HOOKED UP! ALSO this isn't the novice class

My worst moment was flying off the top of a high, I mean HIGH-banked turn into a 3 foot mud puddle

Running second in the A main, I was catching the leader FAST. With about three laps to go, I was going into the first turn about four car lengths behind. Then my truck turned left. After the race I found that the pin came out of my CVD and locked against the hub. Left turn Clyde.

Recently at my local track I lost a big race which I knew I should have won cause I was the only entrant !

My worst moment was when the A-arms of my B3 simultaneously and spontaneously combusted while going over a 7 metre flat top jump. Boy, that landing was ugly ! But all my mates loved it. Greetings from Australia, yankees !!!!!

well one day I was hallucinating I was Luke SkyWalker with a remote control starship. That was a bad day...don't you agree !

When my b2 lost a wheel and I had just came from 7 to 3 with one minute to go. It was my last race of the 97 season and I had blown it like that. but I also had an esc in it go out. but the highlight was taking 2 nd over the season in the trucks.

I was on the lead during the main and two lap cars pushed my Car literally out and off the track! My worst moment is my reaction to the accident... I pulled my car off the track and quit racing that day...!!!

the day I lost to a xx cr which I haven't yet but dread the day I do

It was my very first time to have qualified for the A-Main in a "big" race. Having out qualified 23 other competitors I had a smile that wouldn't quit. I just knew it was going to be my night. Man was I wrong. With my RC10L20 on the line, the buzzer sounded, I hit the gas & I absolutely shred the spur gear. Didn't even travel 3 feet. Because of that though I do check the gap between the pinion & spur gear quite a bit closer than I used to & it hasn't happened since.

It was about 2:00 a.m. and there was a shoot out across the street, at a convenience store. No this was not L.A. but it seemed like it at the time.

During the A-Main at a race their was a little kid doing some track marshalling. Well I was in second place and the guy in first hit the back side of a big double and flipped. I was just leaving the top of the first jump when the kid bent over to pick the flipped car up, then it happened. WACK! Right in the side of the head, bumper of my B3 caught this kid in the temple. Wow, that had hurt, I thought. Then the kid dropped and started crying. He was also laying on my car. Man I felt really bad. He made me lose. No, just kidding. I apologized to him and his dad. The dad saw the whole thing happen, and made me feel a little better by saying. "Hey ..., It was purely an accident."

Ah, that would have to be the night of the dreaded radio glitch. Ran a total of about 6 laps in the 3 qualifiers and main. Extreme frustration!

Servo breaking by spinning out and hit the wall!!!

OK. It was the a-main and I was on the pole and I was winning with 8 laps and it was 1 minute in to the race. I caught some lappers and I was trying to get by them and one of them had a glitch and down the back stretch just turned and hit me then I hit the wall, my battery fell out got hit buy another car then my spur gear stripped, my front right tire came off. It was so embarrassing. oh I race in Cockysville, Maryland on-road carpet track with my rc10l. JIMMY

Well this weekend I popped two endbells, destroyed a body, chunked a couple of tires, broke a nice graphite bumper, a t-plate and turned a battery pack into sausage links out on the track. I qualified last and finished worse.

There those that will know who I am by this answer. It was a few years ago at Willow Mill in Pa, I lost control of my car due to a major glitch and put a rather large hole in the outside wall in turn one. The wall got the worst of the damage my car was only scratched and continued the day .

My worst day was when the receiver battery on my rc-10 nitro ds fell off in the middle of a race. it went out of control (@ 45mph), jumped a curb, and nailed an old lady in the leg. that thing is down right scary
