1999 Question of the Week:
What are the pros and cons to YOU of us announcing a kit way before its release (such as the TC3)?
No big deal, as long as you release it when you are SUPPOSE TO!
The pro is that you would know all the features of the car, and you could get an idea of how this thing would race. The con is everyone would have one because everything new is a smash if it is an Associated, thus defeating the purpose of you getting one so you can have the edge in competition (-:
I waited to buy the tc3 and after a while it lost it's appeal and I ended up putting a rc12l3 instead. A good example is that Hpi didn't tell anyone about their new car until it was almost out. You guys are right to wait off on making the kit so everything is right. I would MUCH rather have a bullet proof kit rather than getting a first run bug filled kit. . . . I still intend on getting a tc3. Also The wait wouldn't have been as bad if you guys would have given us more frequent updates. Also pictures are good and encouraging. Keep up the good work.
People get really edgy and mad when you keep pushing dates back because of regular delays.
pros- we know what to look fo and we can start saving and searching for all those go fast
parts
cons- we have to wait, sometimes too long as with the tc3, and we get sick of waiting,
mrt3
pro: good for us to know what our favorite rccar company is up to con: [competitor] could visit this site and take T.A.`s idea and beat us to the punch
it kills me, i hate waiting. so when are you guys coming out with nitro tc3?
Pros: there is alot of anticipation of how the kit will perform. If it performs good in testing, you will have alot of people rushing to buy it (hint hint) Cons: but if it performs less than amazing in testing, there's plenty of time for word to get out and discourage buyers.
Anxiety, I am really wanting a nitro-tourer. I am heavily considering the HPI Racer. I don't want to wait much longer, and I know the Nitro TC3 will arrive even later than the electric. What would be a pro would be if you INCLUDED INFO ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NITRO TC3 ON THE WEB AS WELL ! This would help me wait a little longer. Thank you.
Pros: You expose the product to a lot of media attention before it is released. Therefore possibly increasing its demand once it is put on the market, no matter how good a product it is. Con: That media attention could be bad because if the product flops, then the company is out a lot of money for promoting it, and the public is disappointed in the company for "hyping up" a bad product. It could be very hurtful to the company if it does not perform well.
The Pros are we can see what we are going to be racing with or against. The Cons are the anticipation is killing us not to mention the new design makes us leery about performance? Kelly at krkroupa
Pro's if we are going to buy a kit that that one is going into the market as. We are able
to wait and see if we want that one. Like if I was to buy a Street weapon and I only drove
Associated, then I would wait for the AE.
Con's- You get peoples hopes up they think they will have it by this date before a big
race.. So they don't bye X car and learn how to drive it they wait for Y car to come out.
then they have to buy X car before the race because Y car was pushed back. Know the
person has no Time on X car to win the race.
Con- for hobby shops, where I work, It is a good thing and a bad, I had a B2 on the wall
after the B3 came out I got both in at the same time I did not have word to not get the
B2. Also happened with the T3. A warning can help us but if the customer also knows they
wont buy the older one at a lower price.

Well to me the "PROS" of telling us early: 1.We as avid consumers of AE kits can
dream better at night because we know were going to get a good product. 2.Gives something to
talk about at the local track.
Now for the "CONS" of telling us early: 1.people expect the kit to come out
relatively soon after seeing at your site or in the magazines. 2. You make people upset if
you push back the release date. So we the consumers get bummed because we cant show off the
R/C car at the track and we cant beat down the completion at the track in one class
"4wd"... Its time for AE to upgrade there computers to 450 mhz or higher and
start getting the products out there faster. And we the consumers need a new GT ASAP or
graphite arms for the RC10GT. Good luck racing AE... TAman
announcing a kit far ahead of time gets people interested in advance because they see this new car and get to watch it turn from a prototype to reality. The down side is that if you create all this interest any then don't deliver a car that is all of what you said it was going to be people will lose in all the companies products and be very skeptical on buying from there line.
That fact that you announced it has actually kept from spending money on another new sedan in order to wait and see your version. Now that I've decided that I want to buy one, the wait has become cumbersome. I know there are reasons why, and I'd rather have it done right than done like some other mfr's did. They released way to soon!
Pros: Will I know now I can wait to see how good it is, so I don't have to choose between 3, I get to choose from 4. Cons: I have to wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When is the NITRO version coming out?????? I might buy it if it comes out this year!!
Well the biggest pro for you is to hype us up for what is coming out and maybe give us an interest to buy it. But a con would be you might feel as if you all are on a deadline and rush a few parts thru. Well I don't think you guys would rush anything since you are a top competitor but ya never know....keep up the good work

I think that one "pro" is that younger racers have a chance to save their money
to buy the kit before it's release. As for the "cons", there are none.
Pros--Draws interest in your product and allows for comparison to current products available. Cons---Product does not live up to the hype or causes other problems (ie the new rebuildable "stock" motors. This is a dollars game for "stock" racing.)
a pro is that i can save money and be the hottest thing on the track
Pro: I know that i want to buy one even before it is out.
Con: I can't get one today
P.s. You all said March 99, why can't i get a tc3 until may or later
good answer to the 243:05 post- your point is well taken. i was only pointing out that many people have not waited. thanks for the response.
the pros are that, obviously, racers will wait for the product as opposed to " impulse buying". also, will dave smith be racing these touring cars? he would be one of the very best to get this car to because of his ability to interact with other racers, explain fine points of set-up so that the average racer can understand and , of course, the fact he is fast on the track! just wondering!!!
well i work for hobby town usa, and i wish you would release the car..several customers want this car as well as myself..i think you guys at associated build quality cars ..keep up the great work and im looking foward to the TC/3
When they tell you before you can get an idea if you are going to by it and save your money ahead of time.
one good thing is that this creates alot of anticipation and excitement, a bad thing is the people who can't get it into their heads that it wont be coming out at a certain time and they always bug you
it gets us hyped up to save up for the kit, but then we have to wait an eternity
It gets me excited
Similar to vapor-ware in the software sector. :(
I have gotten to think of this as cheap and confusing advertising policy.
