1999 Question of the Week:

Which is easiest for a beginner to race, 1:10 2WD electric truck or buggy?

truck. more stable. harder to screw up the set-up.

2 wheel drive electric truck because it has loads of suspension travel, big fat tires, slower acceleration, lower top speed, slower response to steering inputs and is just overall easier to drive.

Electric truck should be the easiest because a truck is more forgiving than a buggy. The same bumps that you would have to take at a gentle speed with a buggy, you may be able to take a little faster with a truck. Just my $0.02..............

I would say the truck because A truck doesn't break as easy when going off a jump. I would know because i have a B3 and I break alot of parts because buggies aren't as stable as trucks. If U aren't a beginner and u want more speed get a buggy. Chris heiserb

TRUCKS ALL THE WAY!! they are a lot easier to drive on rough surfaces as your first rc car!

Well I would have to say 2wd truck for sure because of the added ground clearance and more suspension travel. But I also think buggies are funner to race with when you build up your skill level the 2wd buggies are more forgiving when making small mistakes at top speed then trucks are! Now if you need insane speed and more run time get a nitro RC10GT and skip electric all together. The nitro MAN -TAman-

I'd say truck. Because they are more forgiving. But most agree that you get better faster going with 2wd.

trucks are easier for beginners to race because there wheels are wider, they don't flip as easy, and they turn a little better. I bought myself a b2 and had a lot of trouble keeping the wheels on the ground. When I drove my friends t2 it handled much better so I bought a used t2 and learned how to drive much better.

I started with a 2wd Mrc MT-10S. I really liked having it and even race it to this day, even though i bought a new B3. I think that trucks are mre durable and longer lasting which makes them easier to start with. I used to jump my truck off of ten footers with no landing and it always survived. I would not dare try that with even the strongest buggy because they don't have the suspension to handle it. If your new to r/c off road or new to r/c in general, get a T3 or a good 2wd monster and have a blast.

Trucks are a lot easier to drive. They are more stable and handle the rough stuff better. Most of us do race on rough tracks to, or outdoor type tracks. Buggies are a little more fun because that's where the competition gets a little more advanced, and you can really air em out. So, starting with a truck is a good idea.

I believe it's easier to start racing a truck. They have huge front tires, and a much wider track than buggies. This makes for a very forgiving vehicle, through the turns and more importantly, over jumps. Trucks are heavier than buggies, so they have a lower power-to-weight ratio, so you will get passed on the fast sections by buggies, but you'll probably catch them in the slower sections.

The truck is better because it is a more all around easier car to drive. It also handle better through the rough stuff.

The truck is better because it is a more all around easier car to drive. It also handle better through the rough stuff.

I own a T3 and a B3 and I think the buggy is easier to drive because it cuts the corners much better. But on the other hand the truck is a little more durable. Kelly

I WOULD SAY THEY ARE BOTH VERY SIMILAR IN THAT THEY ARE BOTH RELATIVELY HARD TO SET UP WHEN FIRST STARTING. THE 2WD BUGGY IS VERY LIGHT AND NIMBLE, VERY FAST, AND THERE IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BUGGY AND THE TRUCK ... SO REALLY YOU COULD SAY THE TRUCK IS EASIER FOR STARTING WITH

I Think that the truck is easier to start out with because its not as sensitive, but on the other hand they are a lot more expensive to maintain, so if ya got money to burn buy a truck and learn how to drive with a easier car.

I WOULD SAY TRUCKS BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE FORGIVING. BUGGIES TEND TO BREAK EASIER. BUGGIES ARE ALSO FASTER, WHICH MAKES THEM HARDER TO CONTROL.

I think 2WD truck is easier, my first off road car was an RC10B3 and I thought it was pretty easy to drive. Then one of my buddies let me take his Losi truck for a spin and that thing was so much easier to turn with. Of course the more I raced, the more experienced I got and pretty soon I was clocking lap times two or three seconds faster with my buggy than him with his truck. Mr. Clutch

I think there are pros and cons to each. Most trucks cost more, but they handle the abuse of a beginners bad driving. Buggies just can't take BIG jumps. They like smoother surfaces. I have a B2 and I race it on a paved oval with pancar tires. It's pretty fast. For off-road : trucks . For tranny car paved: buggies all the way!!!!!!

I would have to say truck because out of the box the T3 is very easy to drive..........

Trucks are a lot easier to drive because they are more forgiving. The trucks normally won't flip over as easy when you catch a pipe or another vehicle. Buggies are normally faster. But trucks are king.

I would say either, although truck races tend to get a little more violent than most others, buggy's and trucks are the easiest vehicles to learn the basics of the hobby with.

Truck. Wider track makes it easiest

2wd truck, their easer to drive, unless their pimped out out that go slower (so you can learn to drive)

A TRUCK IS EASIER TO LEARN ON............. A BUGGY WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER PILOT..............
dk racing

Buggies They are more likely to find than a truck class because they have been around longer.

a buggy is the best deal cause tires are cheaper and generally there is more running buggy than truck. at my track here in Australia anyway

Truck's because they handle better than buggies and isn't as fast.

I started in novice truck and feel that truck is easier to drive when first starting out because it is more forgiving and is easier to drive around corners. I know that when i first started driving 2wd, I kept spinning out. But I do feel that driving 2wd will make you a better overall driver. Why do you think the top drivers drive 2wd at club races as opposed to other classes.

truck, easier handling for some very rough learning

Buggy, sure they are slightly harder to tune and is less durable but if you are a beginner and you conquered that and you have no problems, then you will rule your track. Besides it is faster and more maneuverable than the truck.

i think that most racer's would like to race trucks then buggies, for one thing they have body's that resemble the real one's, and two they are more durable.

The truck would be easier drive and handle because of its wider wheel base, larger diameter wheels and tires. Also trucks are usually slightly heavier than buggies, trucks are also in most cases more fun to drive because of their off road abilities although my b2/b3 does well in grass, a truck has higher ground clearance which makes it have the ability to roll right over larger rocks and other obstacles. However, buggies, in my perception, are much faster than trucks but that all depends on the setup. My t3 has never been and will never be faster than my b2/b3.

The easiest way to start out in R/C, I believe, is with a 1:10 scale truck. The reason is, I believe, is because a truck is much easier to handle, and rolls over rough terrain with ease. A truck is also more durable and can be thrashed a bit more than a buggy.

They are both about the same, they have the same level of difficulty in my opinion. I think either is a good choose.

trucks, they go slower

Electric truck, because they're a lot easier to drive and break a lot less parts. They can handle very rough terrain. I prefer to race buggies though as the tires are a lot less expensive.

I would say truck because trucks are usually more durable and can take the punishment of a few crashes.

As long as it's Associated (because of their great instruction manuals and ease of assembly and quality combined). I think 1:10 buggies cuz of their lower center of gravity, in my opinion trucks flip more often and are less forgiving, but that also depends on your driving ability. For electrics you should know all there is to know about batteries and motor maintenance. And remember all rc cars should be maintained regularly but gas cars need much more maintenance. There are many factors to consider like always but I'll say 1:10 buggies!!
Thanx Pride57

I feel that the easiest for a beginner would be the truck because the truck is more forgiving and a racer would not have to have the hot set-up to keep the truck planted although it helps. Trucks also tend to be more stable off of a jump and landing thanks to they're wider stance and longer track.
