Answers

1 What size are the cells and what type of connector comes on the battery?

The connectors are the same as on the HPI mini, and the cell size is 2/3A.

2 What type of charger comes in the kit?

It is a plug-in-the-wall overnight charger.

3 In the 18T video, did you use stock electronics or did you put in some hop-ups?

The car was stock. (For the video, go to the home page and click on the RC18T picture, then on the video link.)

4 What's the largest can size the car will except? 24mm?

A 300-size motor is the largest we have fit into it with no problems.

5 Will the Mini-T motors fit the RC18T?

As long as it is a 280 size motor, yes, it will.

6 What's the difference between these items:

Associated FT Front Aluminum Shock Kit Blue RC18T, and Associated FT Front Shock Bodies & Collars RC18T?
First one is the complete kit, the second is just the body and collar.

7 What run times can we expect to see with the stock motor and battery?

According to a WildHobbies review, 30 minutes on a flat surface, and less on grass.

8 What weight shock oil comes comes with the RC18T?

The oil is equivalent to 25-weight oil.

9 I can't seem to get the brakes to work on the 18T.

The brakes on the 18T are more like an anti-lock braking system. They slow the truck slowly but do not lock the wheels up. The delay you feel before reverse is to slow the truck down before engaging reverse to avoid stripping gears.

10 Will the RC18T also accept the current crop of aftermarket Mini-T bodies? (1/18th scale Proline Crowd Pleazer, Proline Hummer H2, Trinity Brew Hauler, and etc.)

With different body post positions, it will fit some but not all the bodies.

11 Does AE offer the RC18T body in unpainted clear?

Yes.

12 Will the speed control & servo work with a 75MHz radio system?

They will work with a 75MHz radio.

13 Will the 18T have a 27MHz system?

It will because it’s sold internationally.

14 The Losi rims will work, so do you have to use rears up front ,or do Losi stock fronts work on the 18T?

Use the Losi rear rims both front and rear on our 18T.

15 Will the battery charger that comes with the kit be auto switching?

No. The 18T kit will have the appropriate charger for your country’s power. Here in the US we will have 110V, and in countries that require 240V you will get a 240V wall charger.

16 Will there be the potential for a slipper (ala TT Predator) since it is off road?

There will not be. No need for one in such a small, lightweight vehicle.

17 What's with the plastic turnbuckles?

They are very durable. Don’t forget that there’ll be hopups for those who want something more.

18 Are those plastic CVDs? Wouldn't the set screw threads strip?

They are very durable. Don’t forget that there are hopups for those who want something more.

19 I HAVE A 6800KV WITH A 15T PINION WITH THE 55T SPUR. I KEEP STRIPPING INPUT AND DIFF GEARS.

Since you are running a modified motor please consider installing our shim kit #21141. These shims will allow you to shim the diff gears closer together, which should solve you breakage problems.

20 The RC18T setup sheet has check boxes for a solid and a one-way differential.

The solid axle and one-way diff are useful tuning tools. We've added these boxes to the setup sheet so if they do become available (either through us or another vendor) you have the option to mark them on your setup sheet. Their inclusion now also avoids adding them later and reprinting the manual. We've been monitoring requests and, at this time, we don't see a large market for these parts.

21 How do I adjust the diffs to keep the drive shaft from jumping out?

Tighten the diff down then back it out ½ turn, no more and no less.

22 What is the pitch of the spur and pinion gears?

The gears are a .5 module, which is the equivalent of our pitch.

23 It sounds like the gears in one of the diffs is skipping.

Try the #21141 shim set. It will allow you to shim the diff closer to the input gear and reduce possible slipping.

24 If I leave the wall charger on for more than 10 hours will that damage the battery pack?

If you leave it on a few extra hours it will not harm the pack.

25 Is there a way to keep the bottom spring retainer on my shock absorber from  fall off in a crash?

Use a little bit of Shoe Goo (from a hardware store). The Shoe Goo will still allow you to take it apart at a later time.

26 I want to know what discharge rate to use.

Use 5 amps to limit the amount of heat in the cells.

27 Are the 18T screws metric?

Yes.

28 How do you set up the XP Micro speed control?

-Press the set up button on the speed control until the light begins to blink then release.
-Now press and release the set up button one more time.
-Pull and hold the trigger in the full throttle position then press & release the set up button one time.
-Push and hold the trigger in the full brake position and press & release the set up button one time.
-Your speed control should now be programmed.

29 What weight shock oil comes comes with the RC18T?

The oil is equivalent to 25-weight oil.

30 What RC18T run times can we expect to see with the stock motor and battery?

According to a WildHobbies review, 30 minutes on a flat surface, and less on grass.

31 What's the biggest mAh and cell arrangement the 18T can handle?

As of right now, the largest is an 1100 mAh 6 cell 2/3 AF size battery, fits perfect.

32 Does the 18T come with ball bearings?

It includes ball bearings.

33 Are the 18T batteries just receiver batteries???

The batteries going into the RC18T are 1100 mAh. They power all the electronics except for the transmitter.

34 Will the stock 18T motor plate accept 280 & 300 sized motors?

I do not have all the details yet, but I think the motor plate can be adjusted to accommodate larger motors.

35 What's the largest can size the 18T will accept?

A 300-size motor is the largest we have fit into it with no problems.
