RC10CE. It has developed a major radio glitch.
Can I swap my World's Car tranny for the B3's?
RC10 Graphite. We race on very small ovals. What degree of steering blocks offer the most steering?
Can you give me dimensions for all bearings to replace bushings in
a 6-gear transmission?
1 I bought a used buggy and need to know what model
it is.
If your transmission looks like the one in
this photo, you have the
original RC10.
2 Do you have the correct body for this 6-gear tranny RC10
(1986) kit?
Yes, we still have the Viper and Sidewinder bodies available.
Viper,#6121, retail $14.00.
Wing kit is #6181 retail $3.50.
3 Do you still sell parts for the original RC10?
Some parts are still in stock. Go to our Parts and Accessories > Off Road
section and look up the original RC10 catalog for part numbers, drawings, and
pricing.
4 I have an original RC10. What do I need to put wider and
larger diameter truck front wheels/tires?
You could try the front wheels and rims from a truck:
Rims #7842 retail for $7.00 pr
Tires #7877 retail for $17.95 pr
Front steering block #7220 retail for $2.00
Front axle #7221 retail for $6.00
5 How can I use the 2.2" buggy tires and rims?
In order to use the current wheels and tires you will need the following:
7378 3/16 axles
#9277 bearings (3/16 x 3/8 flanged bearings)
#7369 axle pins
#7368 axle shims
6 What buggy body is for the original RC10?
The body that will fit is the Protech #6160. For wing and wing wire, you'll need
#6181.
7 What is the internal gearbox constant for my car?
It’s 1.87.
8 What is the resistance of the green speed control resistor,
#6711?
1.5 ohm.
9 I have an old RC10 Team Car. I need to replace it with a ball
bearing bell crank setup.
Use the original bell crank assembly #6254 and put in four of the #897 bearings.
10 Can you give me the item numbers for the original body, wing
wire, gear cover, cotter pins for the body, and the floodlights on the roof and
sides of the front window.
The Sidewinder body #6161, $14.00.
Wing kit #6181, $3.50.
Gear cover #6608, $1.00.
Body clips are #6332, $0.75 for 6 of them.
The lights are no longer available. Perhaps you can borrow them from a plastic
model kit.
11 RC10 Championship Edition (part #6016). What other wheels
can I use?
You can use the 2-inch wheels for the front and the back. Just make sure that
you get the correct hole size for the rear: if you have CVDs you have 3/16" axle
hole, and if you have dogbones you have 1/4" inch axles.
12 Original RC10. Which manual do I get?
For RC10 with the 6-gear tranny, use the original RC10 manual. If it does not
have the 6-gear tranny, you will need the Championship Edition Manual.
13 I need a body for the RC10 Worlds Car.
The direct replacement body for that car is no longer produced. The #6160 body
that was for the original RC10 will work.
14 I have an old RC10 Graphite with suspension troubles. In
most positions (unless I have put a travel limiter in the shock) when I unweight
the suspension the CVD pops out of the out drive. The car works OK with the
limiter but I like the clearance I have without.
Make sure the #9273 spacers and the #6372 springs are in the correct place. Also
make sure that you do not have excessive negative or positive camber. These are
the problems we usually run into when someone has this problem.
15 I want to improve the steering response of the Original RC10
buggy.
The only other way to improve steering is to go to a high speed high
torque servo with metal gears.
16 What was the gear ratio for the old transmission?
The gear ratio for the old transmission was 1.9.
17 Can I put a .15 in the RC10 original?
There is no possible way to put a .15 engine into an RC10.
18 Could you recommend a gearing for my Team Car for speed and
to make my batteries last more than 5 minutes?
Gearing should be between 21-23/81. The 21 will give you more run time. The 23
will give more speed.
19 Is it possible to still compete with the RC10 Graphite Team
Car?
It's still possible to compete with your car. Remember that you'll only compete
against others in your main. The only thing I would really upgrade would be the
batteries. Batteries have come a long way.
20 What is the difference between the CE and the B3?
The difference between the CE and the B2 is quite significant. The B2 is a whole
new car.
21 Is there any way to convert the RC10 black anodized chassis
to a B2 or B3?
There is no conversion kit for the RC10 towards a B2 or B3.
22 The steering in not too great, what can I do to make the
steering very tight?
Associated has ball bearing steering for the old RC10. This is much better than
the stock steering.
23 Can I convert my old RC10 to a B3?
The design differences are too drastic to convert your car to a B2 or B3.
24 Will the RC10 Team Car rims fit the B3 car?
The older RC10 rims will not fit the B3.
25 RC10CE. It has developed a major radio glitch.
Try moving your receiver up off the chassis and onto the shock tower. Also check
the capacitors on your motor.
26 Can I swap my World's Car tranny for the B3's?
The B3 tranny ratio is 2.4 and the World's Car was 2.25. You cannot swap them.
27 RC10 Graphite. We race on very small ovals. What degree of
steering blocks offer the most steering?
For dirt oval I would recommend trying the 30° caster blocks.
28 RC10CE. When I just turn the wheels while the car is off the
ground the wheels spin fine. When I put it on the ground and put traction on it,
it goes very slow and moves slow, but when I pick it up it goes fine off the
group.
It sounds like the slipper might be loose or possibly even the differential. Take the transmission apart again and go through it step by step.
29 Can you give me dimensions for all bearings to replace bushings in
a 6-gear transmission?
You will need (2) 3/16 x 5/16 unflanged, (4) 3/16 x 5/16 flanged, (2) 3/8 x 1/4 flanged.
