What is the purpose for the plastic disc which has a slot in it, inside of the carb's throat?
I have a RTR RC10GT and I was wondering if all of the RC10GT team parts will fit it?
Does the #6372 dogbone spring spacer take the place of the O-rings on each end of the GT RTR shaft?
Can you help to find a replacement engine for my truck?
My GT keeps throwing dogbones out the rear outdrives.
I want to know how I can get 0 degree toe-in on the rear wheels.
#7364, arm mounts have 0 deg. toe-in, $2.00 (discontinued)
#7365, hub carriers have 0 deg. toe-in, $3.50
Use them both and you have 0 deg. toe-in. These were for the T-T2 originally.
1 What do I need to upgrade to CVDs on the 7090 GT
RTR?
qty 1, #7383, CVD kit, $35.50
qty 2pr, #3977, bearings, $6.00pr
qty 1pr, #7803, Rear Rims, $7.00pr
qty 1pr, #7824, Rear Tires, $17.95pr
2 The body does not come low enough in the back to hit my GT RTR
body mounts.
#6131 is the body for the original GT. #6134 is the body for the GT RTR.
3 I repeatedly snap the stock dogbones at the outdrive side
where the thin shaft meets the round end of the dogbone.
The main reasons that the dog bones break are from the following:
a. Having the differential locked up
b. Having the slipper clutch too tight
c. Too much down travel in the rear shock, allows the dog bone to catch the out
drive and when it lands it breaks.
How to fix the problem:
a. Check and readjust the tension on the differential
b. Start the slipper with just the top of the thread showing through the nut
c. Add one 1/16 and 1/8 limiters to the shock shaft inside the shock barrel
4 How can I convert my AE .15 engine to a non pull start?
It's not easy! Get the
backplate.
5 Putting on thread lock.
The RTR engine produces nearly 33,000 rpm and can literally shake the truck
apart. It's best that before you go out to run you set yourself a routine of
checking and tightening all the screws, and any that are metal to metal put on
some thread lock.
6 When I take the glow plug out, then it will crank the piston,
but when I put the plug in it just will not crank the piston.
The problem is that the one-way bearing is slipping; generally the type of fuel
being used causes it. We found that the Blue Thunder (Racing Formula) and
O’Donnell racing fuel work the best at keeping the bearing lubricated and
working properly. If you are not running either of these fuels you should use up
what you have then on your next purchase look for either of these brands. In the
meantime you can remove the one way, clean it and relube it with some light
weight oil, like 3-in-1, but really saturate it make sure the oil gets inside
all the bearings, and that should bring it back to life.
7 Which ball bearings for my wheels do I get?
If you have CVDs then you would need #7703. If dogbones then #7702.
8 My starter cord seems to break easily.
There are several reason that the starting ropes would break:
1. Hydro lock: that is when there is so much fuel in the piston chamber that the
motor does not want to move and the operator pulls on the cord and it breaks.
Resolution: relieve the pressure before the cord is broken by removing the glow
plug, dumping out the excess fuel, and then reinstalling the plug. Then the
motor will pull freely.
2. Pulling the cord too far, ripping it out of the pull start case.
Resolution: limit the pull stroke length to 5 to 7 inches
3. Pulling the cord through the window of the body.
Resolution: Either remove the body while starting or place some fuel tubing on
the edge of the Lexan to prevent abrasive rubbing against the body.
9 How do I trade in my AE .15 old engine for a new one at half
the price?
Remove your engine mount, exhaust, air filter, all the pieces of your flywheel
and clutch assembly, including the spacer and collet behind the flywheel, and
the small pivot ball on the front of the carb lever.
See the link above for GT General questions.
11 What is the overall gear ratio on the truck?
The overall gear ratio is 11.44.
12 What size rear axle is on the rc10gt RTR, the part the rim
bolts on to?
The axle size on the RTR is ¼ inch.
13 I also would like to get a full set of bearings for my RTR
RC10GT.
The catalog included with your RTR GT contains all the items available for the
RTR GT (read the text in the gray box on the exploded parts page). The #7700,
#7701, #7702 bearing sets will fit in the RTR RC10GT, as will most of the
accessories in the catalog.
14 How can I change my .15 pull start Associated engine to non
pull start?
You will need to change the motor mount and fly wheel to motor mount #7770 and
flywheel #7610. You'll also need the backplate.
15 I accidentally ran my truck through a small water puddle,
now my stuff is all messed up.
I would first have to say that you have the receiver wet and you need to let it
dry out. Once you are sure it's dry then try the servos and see if they function
properly.
16 How do I clean the engine on my R/C car?
Either get some Nitro Wash that is sold at the hobby stores, or just use
Isopropyl Alcohol in a spray type bottle. Nice thing is you can clean with it
and the extra will evaporate away.
17 Will the RTR body fit the longer Factory Team GT chassis?
No, it will not. Use #6155 body for that chassis.
18 I took out the restrictor and noticed the engine ran hot.
It does not hurt the motor, it increases the air flow into the motor, allowing
more speed. You need to adjust your carb if it is running hot by richening the
high end setting. Only change the setting a little at a time, so turn it to the
left about an 1 / 8 th of a turn then try it, if still hot go a bit more until
you get the desired temp.
19 I would like to know some performance numbers for the
Associated .15 engine.
Unfortunately, there is no industry standard for performance numbers. Every
engine manufacturer establishes its own standards, and the numbers cannot be
compared with other manufacturer's numbers--you can only compare engine numbers
with other engines within that company. Since this is our first engine, having a
number will be pointless, since you can't compare our engine with another one to
see if we've gotten more RPM, etc.
Secondly, we created this .15 engine as a "fun" engine for the hobbyist who just
wants a reasonably fast engine in his truck.
20 I noticed that the body of the truck is starting to melt
where the muffler is.
You will need to work with the muffler bracket. Bend it a little so that the
pipe doesn't make solid contact with the body.
21 How long can the RTR GT run for on a tank of gas?
Depending on carb settings, at least fifteen minutes.
22 How fast does the rc10gt-rtr go?
It can go 35-40mph.
23 What is the purpose for the plastic disc which has a slot in
it, inside of the carb's throat?
It is a carb restrictor. You can remove it but the engine will wear out that
much quicker and you may break more stuff also. Other car engines don't have it
because most of them are not as fast as this one.
24 When breaking in a new engine, when the engine is running
and you want to make adjustments to it, what needle do you set first? The low?
The high?
Always adjust the high end needle, then the low when breaking in a new engine.
This will make tuning your engine easier.
25 I would like to know where the low speed needle and the high
speed needle should be set after break-in.
For the Associated .15 engine, high speed about 2 1/2 to 3 turns and the low
about 3/4 of a turn.
26 I just bought a brand new RC10GT RTR and the big plastic
transmission gear wore off about 3 of the teeth
The gear stripped because you have too much brake dialed in and you are letting
it idle too long also. Only let the truck sit for a few seconds at a time.
Adjust the nut on the end of the brake rod so that the truck just barely rolls
forward, that will give you the correct amount of drag brake.
27 I have a rc10gt rtr it has run very hot ever since it was
new. It is running at 300+ deg. I run Byrons fuel 15% nitro. If I richen the
motor up to cool it down it will not run--it loads up and dies.
You may have the bottom end too rich and that could be why it is loading up. Try
turning the low speed fuel mixture in just a VERY little bit and keep the high
end richened up. That should help. Also when you are making your carb
adjustments, realize that you only have to turn the screws VERY little!
28 I have a RTR RC10GT and I was wondering if all of the RC10GT
team parts will fit it?
Almost all the parts in your GT catalog will fit the RTR GT. Contact us if you are not sure. Some of the parts will look different from the stock RTR version, but they will fit.
29 Does the #6372 dogbone spring spacer take the place of the O-rings on each end of the GT RTR shaft?
Yes it does.
30 Can you help to find a replacement engine for my truck?
We recommend our #2916 pull start engine: nitro_engines
31 My GT keeps throwing dogbones out the rear outdrives.
Make sure that you have an O-ring on each side of the dogbone.
The bearing in my 1999 GT bell housing is burnt up. What do I need
to get?
The clutch bell is part number is #7605 and the bearings are #6902.
