About Li-Poly Batteries in RTR models

We do not recommend using a Li-Poly (LiPo) battery at all with any of our RTR (Ready-To-Run) R/C cars. The speed controls in our RTRs do not have the ability to detect the Li-Poly batteries.

A Li-Poly battery cannot be allowed to fully discharge or it will not recharge. In order for a Li-Poly battery to be used in an R/C car, the speed control must detect the battery and prevent it from going below 3.0v per cell, otherwise the battery will no longer accept a charge. To include Li-Poly batteries in an Associated RTR, the speed control must be changed.

The new LRP QC3 ESC (for brushed motors) and Sphere Competition ESC (for brushless motors) will run NiMH or Li-Poly batteries. They have auto-detect abilities that prevent the Li-Poly batteries from discharging below 3.0v per cell.
