The fifth and final round of the 1/10 Off-Road Swiss Nationals was held near Zurich at the well-known track in Oberbueren. Practice and two rounds of qualifying were scheduled for Saturday with two more qualifying rounds and the main events on Sunday.

AE/Reedy factory driver Patrick Hofer has been one of the fastest drivers throughout the series and was looking to nail down the championship in 4WD Modified with another good result. However, he first made his mark by topping the time sheets in both the 2WD Modified and 4x4 Short Course classes by the end of qualifying on Saturday.

Sandy track conditions from Saturday remained for the last two rounds on Sunday where Patrick continued to shine. Eventually, Patrick moved up the standings in 4WD and started on pole position in all three classes.

By the time the main events commenced, it had started to rain. Racing in the wet and changing conditions did not deter Patrick or his well-prepared wet-weather vehicles. At the end of the day, Patrick had won all three classes, including an impressive fifth Swiss Championship in a row in the 4WD Modified class!

Now that the Swiss Championship is in the books, Patrick can enjoy his victory and concentrate on preparations for the IFMAR World Championships later this month in Chico, California. Good luck!
