Last weekend saw round 3 of the BRCA 1/12 scale nationals take place in Tamworth, UK. 1/12 scale is a hugely popular class in the UK, with entries as high as 90 drivers at all of their 2-day national level events over the winter. This was the third event of a 5-round series used to decide the BRCA champion in each class.

On Saturday in the 10.5 Stock class, Mark Stiles was competitive throughout qualifying and was holding down second overall behind multiple-world-champ David Spashett. Unfortunately, a scrappy final qualifier saw Mark drop to third behind his archrival Chris Kerswell. In the single-leg A Main, Mark fought hard from the beginning to get past Chris, eventually succeeding with a well-executed move at the end of the main straight. By this time Spashett had extended an insurmountable lead, so Mark had to settle for second place. Scroll down to see the A-Main video.

On Sunday, Mark was once again competitive in the Open Modified category. A clean and decisively driven last qualifying run this time allowed Mark to grab the TQ spot ahead of Adam Catchpole, with Spashett in third. These drivers were separated by just four seconds on their best 8-minute runs! The A Main started well with the top four cars getting a clean start. Mark led the pack for the first two minutes until an uncharacteristic mistake entering a corner left the chasing cars with nowhere to go. The resulting collision left Mark with a broken side link, forcing him to retire. Scroll down to see the A-Main video.

In Sunday's other class, for 10.5 stock motors, Tim Wood dominated by taking a comfortable TQ and win with his Reedy-powered car.

Both Mark and Tim used Reedy Sonic M3 motors and Reedy 1S 8000mAh LiPo batteries in their cars.
