Midwest Dominance For Team Associated at CRCRC

The 29th annual CRCRC Winter Midwest Electric Championships returned to the Ohio RC Factory in Jeffersonville, OH, which is right between Columbus and Cincinnati. With close to 400 entries, the event remains one of the most popular in the country where customers are able to interact with team representatives like 4x World Champion Ryan Cavalieri and Team Manager Brent Thielke.

Throughout qualifying, Team Associated's Ryan Cavalieri was on fire! Ryan raced in three classes: 2WD Modified Buggy with his B5MCE, 4WD Modified wth his B44.3, and 2WD Modified Short Course with his SC5M. In all three classes Ryan set the fastest time in three of the four rounds of qualifying to earn the top qualifying position in all three classes. Also taking a top qualifying position in the very competitive 2WD 17.5 Buggy for Team Associated and Reedy was Austin Horne, who narrowly beat out teammate Matt Cline.

As Sunday rolled around and the main events got underway, Cavalieri continued his dominance by winning A1 and A2 of both 2WD Modified Buggy and 2WD Modified Short Course, leading every lap of each main event.

In the 4WD Modified Buggy a rare mistake from Cavalieri in A1 saw him break a front arm and lose the opportunity to sweep his third title. In A2, another mistake from Cavalieri put him in third, five seconds back from the leader. Over the next new minutes of the race, Cavalieri manhandled his B44.3, forcing it to turn lap times not seen by others. With this "all-or-nothing" style, Cavalieri reeled in the leader, made the pass for the lead and wowed the crowd for the comeback victory. With his confidence higher than ever, in A3 Cavalieri checked out early and the overall title was never in question for his third title of the weekend.

Another great set of triple A Mains was the 2WD 17.5 Buggy class between Austin Horne and Matt Cline. With a victory each in A1 and A2, Horne and Cline pulled away from the field. A small mistake from Horne gave Cline the lead, which he held throughout the remainder of the 8-minute main event.

With a strong 29 years of hosting the event, the CRCRC club and The Ohio RC Factory continue to improve the event and facility. Thank you from Team Associated to all that attended, and to the staff that put on a great event.
