Kyle McBride Double Wins the Australian Nats

This weekend we left Brisbane to attend our last round of the Australian Nationals series (Round 3) down at the fantastic Canberra Off-Road RC Club.

With terrible weather forecast, the club decided to push through four qualifying rounds on Thursday just in case the rain would come the next day. This track has always been a popular track in Australia with its awesome surface that treats us with a blue groove every time we race on it.

As normal, the track started off a little loose but after two practice rounds the track was looking perfect for the start of qualifying. Thursday held three rounds of 1:8 Buggy qualifying and only one round of 1:8 Truck qualifying. Both my RC8B3.1 and RC8T3 were working perfectly for all of these rounds and I TQ'd each of them.

On Friday the organizers planned to push through one more round of qualifying for Buggy and complete three more rounds for Truck so that we would have four complete rounds for each class to classify it as a main event if the rain decided to downpour. I had another very successful morning and TQ'd the rest of the Truck rounds, but ended up third in the last Buggy round due to testing some different setups and because of an unlucky run.

Come Friday afternoon the rain began to come down and it was a waiting game from then on. The organizers had planned to wait till Saturday lunch time to decide whether the event would be called off. Unfortunately, it rained all day Saturday and the event was officially cancelled. Based on the qualifying results, I ended up with the double win in both classes!

I cannot wait to continue the success into 2018 and the road to the 2018 World Championships! Thank you all for the continuous support for me and my career.
