The 1/8 Electric Buggy class continues to grow thanks to the power and reliability of the latest LiPo batteries, brushless power systems, and the impressive strength of the 1/8 buggy chassis and drive trains.

In Canada, R/C Pro is the leading sanctioning body for 1/8 Electric racing with a well-organized regional and national points system. After a series of R/C Pro regional qualifiers throughout Canada, the top drivers would compete head-to-head to determine the Canadian National Champion. Unlike some other National Championship races, R/C Pro uses a combination of regional results as well as result of the Finals to determine the winner.

Qualifying was dominated by Reedy teammates Steve Bortolotti, Abye Birku, and Tom Wright. The Ontario drivers claimed the top three grid positions for the 14-car triple A Main with their dual Reedy #685 LiPo 5000mAh 40C+ powered buggies.

Bortolotti and Birku traded wins in the first two legs of the A Main to set up a showdown between the two teammates in leg three. However, the showdown never materialized. Bortolotti jumped into the lead from the start and never looked back. Birku and Wright crossed the line in second and third to complete the 1-2-3 Reedy sweep.

After all the final points were tallied, Steve Bortolotti was crowned the 2010 Canadian R/C Pro 1/8 Electric National Champion with Abye Birku standing next to him on the second step of the podium.  Tom Wright just missed out on the champagne celebration with a 4th place finish overall.

World-class racers demand the confidence of powerful and predictable battery performance. Reedy LiPo power delivers once again!
