Fall Classic

The Fall Classic is always the first indoor trophy race as we move from racing outside to inside at Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, IL.
This year is the eighth annual Fall Classic and Brian Mellow asked if I (Mike Nelson) would wear a pink shirt to show support for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I of course agreed, and several of us wore pink Reedy shirts.

All three rounds of qualifying were close in Mod 4x4.  I knew it was going to be a battle in the main. I was on a TQ pace in the third round but fell off in traffic.  I ended up qualifying second.  When the tone went off, I stayed right behind the leader and when he had a bobble in the sweeper, I was able to get past him. I pulled out to about a four-second lead, and thanks to the truck being easy to drive, just maintained the lead until the end.

Special thanks to Mike Nelson for this report.
