Iavazzo Wins South Australia State Titles

Sandy Iavazzo provided the following report:

Arriving at the AERCC track in Adelaide, South Australia, first thing Friday morning, it was good to see racers from all over Australia. Although this was a State Title race, it was open for all drivers to compete.

The initial setup I had on my Reedy-powered TC6.1 was an educated guess as I had some idea of the track layout and surface. From the moment the car hit the track it was very good - responsive, balanced, and needed only a little fine-tuning. A change in spring rates and rear toe-in plus the addition of thicker viscosity oil in the rear differential made the car as good as it could be for Saturday's qualifying rounds.

Arriving at the track the next morning the weather conditions were similar, but thankfully no rain. After the first qualifying rounds I was sitting in the TQ position with a comfortable gap to the second place man, South Australian local Antoni Carretti. Unfortunately, the next qualifying round was stopped due to rain, which meant the end of racing for the day.

Sunday morning saw the remaining two qualifying rounds completed. Ryan Maker was fastest in the early morning round as he still had new tires from an earlier run that he had not completed. The last round was back to an even keel and I was able to maintain the TQ position.

The finals commenced in the afternoon with clean racing and consistent track conditions. I was easily able to win the first two legs of the A-final to secure the SA State Title for myself and Team Associated and Reedy. Ryan Maker finished second thanks to a win in leg three, with Antoni Carretti rounding out the podium.

Thanks to the event organizers and the competitors for providing a great weekend of racing for all, and to Team Associated/Reedy for the support and amazing products that make it all happen.
