Jason Dyckhoff Drinks Victory from the Mackay Cup!

The track crew of the Mackay Cup event in Mackay, Queensland, put in a lot of effort to get the track ready to race after not being able to do anything for months due to bad weather. Their labor resulted in a terrific track for the racers.

Day one went straight into qualifying for Nitro Buggy, and with a very dusty and slippery track, Jason was constantly making changes to get the car as locked in as possible. A computer glitch in Q1 saw Jason come into the pits while the timer kept running; nevertheless, he still managed to end up second for the first round. The next five qualifying runs ended up in his favor, locking up TQ for the event. With an A B C-style format, we went straight into the main, which would be contested the following day.

Day two, Finals day: we had a few lower finals first and then the running of the Truggy final before we set out for our main. Jason managed to get a great start in the final, his Team Associated RC8.2 slipping away from the chasing pack by around 8 seconds or so. That is pretty much how it stayed for the rest of the 20-minute final. Jason crossed the line for the win and was very happy with the results.

Thanks to Jason Dyckhoff for this report.
